How much are people paying for the NEW 4Runner?

I have a dealer holding firm at MSRP $43,750 on a Cement 4Runner that's on the lot. Am I crazy to be walking on it? I have another dealer offering me $1500 over invoice if I order but they won't guarantee I can get one.

Do not walk away from MSRP. There are no guarantees on TRDPs. Allocations are very scarce.

Just picked up a black TRD Off-road for 37,184 before TTL. I'm super satisfied with that price especially since I'm in the Bay Area. STOKED! :jump:

This is what I was running into, i would offer almost what they ask for, and they pass... car sales guy literally told me... If you don't buy it at that price, someone else will probably today or tomorrow.

good lord.

Real nice. Got mine for about 1K more with a "dealer special" being I knew some people the manager worked for. Obviously could have done better, but paying less than most and finding a red one I went with it.

Did you get anything extra? Running boards? Roof rack, etc?

Buy it. You can resell it for msrp or close to it eventually depending on miles.

KDSS, running boards, roof rack. It was a few hundred under invoice so I'm pretty satisfied with the deal that I got.

What options are on it? I paid $42,800 for mine after a dealer Military discount, with the only added option being the mandatory sliding cargo tray. I would buy that sucker immediately. I've been waiting for mine for a while now.... it's on the lot, grab it

Only option is weather mats and cargo tray. You guys convinced me, I can always have the dealer add the remote start that I actually wanted later. Rather be sure to get it than wait on the discounted one to only not get it. Calling her at opening on Monday.

Can anyone recommend a transporting company to get it to me?

Thanks!

The dealer can arrange transport for you. Should cost you anywhere from 400 to 800 bucks.

Helping to understand better pricing through Global markets woes

I'm trying to add a bunch of information about the state of the global automobile market to this forum but don't want to violate any rules.

Essentially I reversed my normal market analysis from others markets into the state of the Toyota.

Can I post links to info Ive obtained as a way of citation for what I post? Don't want to come across as plagiarism. Just want to mention some complied data that will help fellow buyers?

plus put together a concise list of what people are paying in a little better way!

Thanks Peeps

Yea I think there is a website you can find to have guys bid for the transport job. You will save a hundred or 2 but will need to coordinate the pickup at the dealer remotely.

Ok hope I don't break any rules by providing this information.

Before you look at prices remember Toyota pays each dealer 2% of MSRP back after a sale. so if $40,000 MSRP dealer makes $800 (equal to approximately the destination charge) this is paid even if they sell at invoice. You get invoice price of 38,000 and they get $38,800. This price doesn't include dealer kickback for monthly sales. Sell $1000 cars in a month get $500 for every car sold no matter the vehicle or some other per-negotiated price for every car sold. Who knows but i bet there are huge $ kickbacks this month since its early in their fiscal year.

Fiscal year is not Jan 1 to Dec 31. Its April 31 to April 31. Therefore last year just was accounted for and its Month 1 of the new fiscal year as of 15 days ago.

So if they sell at invoice they still make plenty of money! No one goes hungry believe me! More Info to come about the current economic woes Toyota is facing!

Toyota says the U.S market has peaked.

This is one month prior to release of fiscal results on May 10
Going to post a lot of information that you can use as an advantage to negotiate a better price. It's not 4Runner interesting stuff but keep reading and you'll get it.

Bloomberg April 11, 2017, 10:14 PM EDT

The U.S. auto market has peaked and will shrink this year, with manufacturers using unprecedented incentives to support passenger cars through slumping demand, a Toyota Motor Corp. executive said.

Industrywide deliveries may decline to as low as 17 million vehicles from last year’s record of about 17.5 million, according to Bob Carter, president of Toyota’s U.S. sales unit. A rapid shift in demand toward sport utility vehicles at the expense of sedans is the main factor driving automakers’ heavy discounts, he said.

“Once the industry starts to get their pipelines lined up to where the consumer demand is, perhaps we’ll see a little bit of relaxing on some of these high incentives,” Carter said Tuesday at a conference in New York hosted by the National Automobile Dealers Association and J.D. Power. Toyota’s discounts are “higher than we’ve ever experienced,” driven by light trucks reaching about 65 percent of industry sales, up from roughly half.

After seven straight years of growth, U.S. auto sales have declined in each of the first three months of 2017. The slowdown has contributed to a new-vehicle inventory glut, plus a flood of cars returning to the used market after their leases expire has started to depress their prices. To clear lots and buoy demand for new autos, manufacturers have been spending an average of more than $4,000 on incentives per vehicle, a record, according to J.D. Power.

Unhealthy Incentives

Maintaining last year’s record sales place would do long-term damage to the industry, Thomas King, a J.D. Power analyst, said at the conference. The researcher projects deliveries will likely match last year’s levels because of discount offers equal to about 10 percent of the average price for new vehicles.

Industry sales results are “being driven by recession-era level of incentives,” King said. “You can’t have those two things coexist in a definition of a healthy industry.”

Toyota’s shares fell 2.1 percent as of 11:12 a.m. in Tokyo trading, the biggest drag on the benchmark Topix index, which slid 1.3 percent.

Toyota’s Carter said the company is expecting industry sales will finish the year at 17 million to 17.2 million vehicles. The company was projecting the higher end of that range as of January. A decline to the low point would be the equivalent of about two large auto plants’ worth of production.

So the past few days I going looking for a 2017 TRD Offroad Premum here in the great Northwest. Once I tell the sales people what I'm looking for, they don't seem at all intrested in making a sale, to me anyways.

Most dealers didn't have any TRD's and those that did that had them were demanding MSRP pricing. I've never purchase a toyota at MSRP before and don't think I'm going to start now. If they are in such short supply / high demand, guess I'll wait it out. It must be a great time for the dealers who don't even have to hustle to find $40,000.00 dollor buyers nowdays. Me, I got more time than money :snacker:
