Well i did try the Costco purchase program. Of the dealers that had what I waslooking for, one said they don't do the Costco thing anymore and the other said they did but it didn't apply to 4runners. MSRP was the only deal...

I had one on order through Costco here in Portland area, they ordered it no questions asked, I couldn't wait after a few weeks and found a used 2016 TEP, but they had no problem with getting it to me, happily too. If they told you that, I would have called Costco and had them fix it, they have this stuff prearranged with Costco and dealers can't mess around or they get a nasty call from Costco. I should add that you should use the Costco web site and have Costco pick the dealer for you, don't go to the dealer and ask about Costco, that probably won't work.

Well... the two dealers that Costco refered me to didn't have anything I wanted in stock or coming. Costco said these dealers would be contacting me. They never did. The dealers that had what I wanted were hundreds of miles away. I was willing to take on the dealers, but not Costco as well.

That's very surprising as Costco will chew them out if they don't contact you back. They didn't have mine in stock either but they treated me just as if I was a Fleet purchaser and had no problem putting in my order. The deal is the deal, the $2100 off is prearranged so there is absolutely no negotiating. I'm sorry your Costco deal didn't work out, but Costco is your buddy, they really do want to know how the dealer treated you, they are on your side.
That being said, I would have driven hundreds of miles to get mine, as they are so dang hard to find. I ended up driving 350 miles to get mine used.
Most dealerships in the bay area quoted me ~500-1000 below MSRP for a TRD offroad.
The Costco deal that was available for TRD offroads was $1600 above invoice which pretty much made it ~$1000 below MSRP.
I was able to negotiate for a few hundred below invoice on my own!

Dealer didn't want to trade the 4Runner I originally was looking to purchase. I guess they had someone who had come in asking for one and was willing to buy it, so they didn't want to give it up.
There's a Red premium I was looking at, and because of the hiccup they weren't expecting I was able to knock off $1,000 from the deal I was already getting.
So, assuming they get this one, I'll have a TRD Off-Road Premium for $42,224.50 out the door.
It doesn't have KDSS, but I wasn't really for or against it so I'm not upset about not having it.

Price is $39,000 OTD and I'm just wondering if that is a pretty good deal or if I should try to get them down a little more or maybe get them to throw some extras in?
Also found a dealer with TRD Pro wheels in matte black and who will put BFG 265/70R17 KO2 tires on them. Total cost for everything - wheels, tires, mounted, balanced, TPMS switched over, and aligned - is $1,800. Should I jump on the 4Runner and wheel/tire combo or keep looking?

That sounds like a pretty reasonable deal. I just paid $39,500 for an Off Road Premium with a sliding tray, cargo cover, moon roof, and side steps (pretty basic options) and we were pretty close in price (SC's tax is probably less as well)
As for the wheels and tires, it all depends if that's what you want. If that is, then the price is decent for aftermarket wheels and tires.
For reference, I paid $2300 for 4 Method NV wheels, Toyo RT tires, and TPMS switched over and aligned, all from discount tire. I bought 285/70r17 though, so a bit bigger.
Also, FYI. I listed my OEM wheels and tires for $1000, and sold them for $800 within a week. probably could have got more had I held out, but I was fine with that as I didn't really have the room for them, so you can probably take that into consideration for your purchase.

I just paid about $1,800 to get the TRD black rims and 275/70/R17 K02s put on my TRD-ORP out the door. I however get to keep my current rims/tires that will be selling for around $1,000 in the SoCal area, only 500 miles on them roughly. So my final cost to switch to trd rims and k02s will be roughly $1,000 depending on how much I can sell my current set.
I would say if you can keep the current rims/tires after they put the new trd rims/K02s on, then $1,800 sounds like a fair price. If they will not give you the old rims/tires, then I would say don't go with that dealer as you can get the same pricing elsewhere and still keep your old set to sell.

Skip the running boards and get all weather floor mats instead. OEM running boards are plastic - Get some rock silders. Even if you get nothing else, the price is good.

I paid MSRP of $44,353 for my TRD pro, but was able to weasel an extra $500 out of my trade. They had 8 potential buyers lined up behind me, including 2 at the dealership when I closed the deal, so I feel pretty good.
Welcome to the TRDP club. It feels like TRDP inventory has dropped a bit the last few weeks.

First post. I picked up the last '16 TE new my dealer had for $33,500 about 2 months ago. Nautical Blue with running boards and all-weather mats. I traded my 2008 JK Rubicon. They gave me better than what I was expecting considering all that was wrong with that rig (some rocker rust, scratches, and the soft top and tires were just about shot). I very pleased with the deal. I love the color. I am looking to put some BFG AT KO2 275-70r17 on it now. I have been lurking on the site since a few months before I bought. Great information and entertainment!
