How much are people paying for the NEW 4Runner?

Eh, sorry you took it to that level so fast. I was not calling you a liar outright, I was simply asking you to prove it. Your $40k price point is by all measure exceptional and yes you should be proud. But jumping into the thread with that claim, yes claim until proven otherwise, of paying ~10-20% less than EVERYONE else then stating "they can make stupid profit off someone else" is in fact rude. At least you got the opportunity to brag about yourself in a reply that ultimately answered one unasked question. I agreed it was not worth a war of words thus did not reply, until seeing you bring it back up.

This is the last I will entertain the subject.

And for the sake of the history of this thread, when my deal is final I will, like others, share a redacted sales slip so people can see "how much are others paying for their NEW 4Runner"

He's the guy at the bottom of the bell curve while the left coasters are being asked for $5K over sticker. Good for him. When I've inquired locally, MSRP is held to pretty tightly, maybe a little off. Then they'll try to make it up on your trade. Minnesota IS NOT A NO-TAX STATE...in about 10,000 different ways. LOL.

I was at the dealership today looking at a 2017 TRD ORP and got it to 36,800 before TTL with an MSRP of 42,500.This include the sunroof, black tube steps, ball mount, cross bars, and vehicle protection package. I don't really care about the add-ons but they refuse to take it off. This is my first vehicle purchase.
Is this a good deal?

Yes. The lowest I could get a TRD ORP in Texas was $37.5K.

That's a pretty good deal.

screw me.. I paid 5k over msrp yesterday for a brand new 2017 TRD PRO.. original mark up was 15k so I talk them down to 5k feeling ok with the deal and now reading that people pay MSRP here make me regret for paying a penny over. There was no one within 100miles from where I live had one in stock. All incoming vehicle was already pre sold as well..

Hi Guys,

I just picked up a silver 2017 TRD-OR, no KDSS, no Nav, just as basic as I could get it.

All the dealers up here in Oregon (And Washington, and Idaho, and Nevada) that I talked to wouldn't budge on pricing. I got told more than once that if I didn't buy it at their price, some other guy would within the week. Best deal I wound up with was about $250 off MSRP of $38K.

I decided to give Costco a try just for the hell of it and entered my requirements. 20 min later, I got an email from a local dealer with an offer for $35,530. So I did what any cool headed negotiator does- I drove to the dealer and bought the damn truck.

The deal was straightforward, and the only surprise was a stupid upcharge for theft protection stickering they do, and wouldn't budge on. That irritated the hell out of me but I pulled the trigger anyway.

2017 TRD Off Road, no kdss, no nav
$35,530 Base
$36,336 Out the door.

I am currently looking for a deal in WA/OR on a TRD ORP. What dealer did you buy from?

This is why I had to go to Mass for mine, FL, SC dealers were adding $2-5K on MSRP around here...

2017 TRD PRO a few months back

Options: Sliding Rear Deck

MSRP: $44,318

Base + Dealer Fees: $41,982
Tax + Tag: $1,368

OTD: $43,350

Don't feel bad. The California market is really high for the Pro. Look at the preown market here, they're selling for the same price as new! If you want to pay sticker, you'll have to go out of Cali. I am trying to pick up a Offroad Premium in Utah or AZ because Socal dealership will barely budge on the price.

The California market is hot for the TRD Pro models and its hard to find one in stock anywhere. I seen used ones move through the dealer auctions for over MSRP. I got lucky and found exactly what I was looking for in Washington, a cement Trd Pro for MSRP a few weeks ago. Was only 1 week into my search.

Hi. I am new to the forum. I'm currently looking for a 2017 TRD Pro, and I am in the SoCal area. The market in all of California is not favorable right now. I've looked and looked. A lot of used ones are out there, but they are asking over the original stickers, and the ones left at the dealers have $10K extra above the sticker as a "market adjustment". Really?

That's one way to look at it, but price gouging is not a good way to earn faithful customers. I bought my last car at sticker and then fell into the "at least I didn't pay the market adjustment" category - which sucks. I get that the dealer needs to make a profit. But when other buyers brag of their victories with a less than sticker price purchase, people can feel very foolish that they were somehow convinced to over pay.

I hear ya, but this is what the Cali market will currently bear. There's a lot of things I've wanted in life that I passed on because I thought they were overpriced, a TRD pro is one of them, at least here in Cali or the west coast in general. I don't know why people are so hot and heavy to pay too much for them, but enough of them do to keep the prices high.

I was up at Lake Tahoe once and there were these tourists from Europe buying all kinds of camping stuff at this one store up there, way overpriced to me compared to places not too far away in Sacramento or Reno but for them it was a great deal relative to their prices back home. The store was happy and so were those customers. That's life.

I guess when people are very anxious to get something they are willing to over-pay for it. Then that extra cost gets passed on to others when dealers realize that there are lots of suckers out there. A lot of people will simply "laydown" and let the dealer maximize their profit. Then there's the depreciation. Do you think that you will get the "market adjustment" amount back when you sell or trade? People who want bragging rights will pay an extra 5-10K. They get beat down on their trade-in and get their head ripped off by the dealer simply because they are too emotional when they buy.

I saw a private listing in the SF area asking $50k for his 1 year old TRDP, good luck with that.
