Can I Do better?
New to forum, new to 4Runner but I'm going all in! Went to 1st dealer today to spec out 2018 TRD OR Premium with the following: KDSS/Moonroof/Running Boards/all weather mats and wheel locks MSRP was $43, 014 dealer came back at $39995+DMV fees and state taxes. Aggressive tactics to make me sign up today even though I told them I don't need till January. They let me walk out saying that was their floor. Question, I'm I looking at 8% off of MSRP or you think I can squueze out more? I'm on the East Coast, NY/LI area and will try a few more local dealers to see what else I can come up with.

I’d say 8% is about average of what I saw when shopping dealers around the states. Patience will definitely help to find the right deal. Just search until you find a good deal that you’re comfortable with. Never know if any incentives may come out that may help

First of all thank all of you for your posts and feedback. It's been extremely helpful in my own search for a 4Runner.
Question - I'm working with a dealer in NJ who claims this is their bottom line on a 2017 TRD (non-premium). I want an honest opinion on whether I'm being too ambitious and unrealistic.
Dealer offer:
$38,814 MSRP
$35,987 Price (Allegedly in the area of $500 below invoice which is claimed to be $36,471.39)
$125 Govt Fees
$449 Proc/Doc fees
$7500 Trade
$2133.30 (7% NJ Sales Tax)
$38,694.30 TTT
My offer - keep in mind I'm being aggressive given this is a leftover (depreciation, incentives, holdback, yada, yada). They were fairly unreceptive my arguments against their posted invoice vs true cost. I'm good with the trade amount.
$33,900 Price
$158 Govt Fees (NJ Title/Registration fees)
$200 Doc Fees
$7500 Trade
$1,900 Tax (rough estimate)
$36,158 TTT
Now I'm definitely willing to show some movement to get to the right price.

Nice ride, I just picked up the same on Saturday minus the steps at $44k
Wow! I searched my local dealers (CA), they were asking $7M-$8M over MSRP. Had to fly out to AZ to pick mine up with “Extra” options.
Is it 44K OTD?? Including TTL? If so you got a nice deal.
My MSRP was $45M + TTL.

No, that was pre TTL - I oddly had no issue getting mine, no talk or marking up anything or trying to add anything on. They have 2-3 more coming in as well, supposed to be a CB in there too that are not spoken for yet. Should be in Austin this month.

After following this thread for many months, I'm pleased to say that I have my Super White ORP that I had been searching for. 
2018 Off-Road Premium with KDSS, moonroof, exhaust tip, roof rack crossbars, and all-weather floor liner/cargo tray ($42,864 MSRP). No dealer installed add-ons (all from the factory or port).
$1,000 off sticker, plus $150 doc fee, plus TTL (6% tax) = $44,650 OTD
No trade-in and no dealer financing (either could impact a new-car deal).
Not the best deal nor the worst. Finding and ORP in Super White with the KDSS and moonroof that didn't already have a deposit on it had been difficult. Luckily, I found this one just days before it arrived at the dealer and no one had claimed it yet. I took delivery with 4 miles on it, no holes in the front bumper, and all the plastic still on the interior (as I requested).
FWIW, I bought it out-of-state from a dealer about 65 miles north of Seattle.

Well. I did it...purchased a 17 Barcelona Red Pro for $44,099 before taxes etc. In the end, I figured I would keep wondering if I should have gotten the Pro, so I did!
Flying out to pick it up tomorrow. Pretty excited about the drive back! Have to get my playlist ready now....

Bought a 2018 SR5 OTD for 34,500$ yesterday. I am picking it up today
Picked up my 2018 TRD OR Premium on Saturday night for $37,454 + TT&L (this was even after the stupid $558 protection package they installed, but I thought it was a good price even including that).
Really ended up being $36,985 +TT&L after I threw down my free $500 off coupon from the State Fair of Texas!
All in all, I think it was a decent deal.
