41k after taxes and fees for 2017 TRD ORP
How much are people paying for the NEW 4Runner?

Congrats! I picked up my 2018 TRD OR Premium as well on Saturday, out the door was $40,210.

The kicker is the trade. I'm trading a 2017 Tacoma TRD OR with 14,000 miles. No JBL but all the other options. They offered me 32k for the trade.
I walked away they wouldn't budge. Is this a fair deal?

In my opinion, it's still a numbers game about the difference. Between the two cars, you are looking at paying a difference of $10k. If this works for you, great. I think the price of the TRD ORP is a little high, maybe by like $700... but I don't know other options, assuming 6% SC tax rate.
The trade-in price for the Tacoma is good. I don't think you'd be able to get much higher since dealers are selling 2017 Tacoma TRD ORs for close to the same brand new (plus TTL).
Consider dropping by Carmax and seeing what they give you for the Tacoma. It'll take 30 minutes and they LOVE displaying flashy new-ish rigs on their lot. Then separate the deals and try to save money that way.

I should have mentioned more details.
SC Tax, Title and Fee's totals = $943. SC gets you yearly with property taxes. So the price of the truck is $41,178.
That's what makes me think it's not that great of a deal. I agree the 32k offer on the truck was Ok I think that was their point they would give more for the trade.
The other options on the 4 runner that I show are:

My TRDORP non-kdss stickered at 43,160 and I paid 38,730 at a dealer in Arkansas. I had everything yours had listed plus floor liners, cargo cover, cargo net, remote start, tube steps, sunroof, drawbar. No tint, but I wanted my own guy to do it. I would say you are paying too much for that car. The trade on the tacoma is pretty decent, but I think carmax might offer more. Just to see how my cars value is holding up, I took mine to get it appraised and Carmax offered 37k for my 17 with 8k miles on it.
I will take the Tacoma to CarMax this week to see what they offer.
The 4 runner I am looking at does have sunroof but I thought all premium's did. I think you are correct they are asking too much for the 4 runner.
All of those port/dealer add ons really seem to muddy the waters with pricing for Toyota. I've noticed the things they tack on are either overpriced since you can find them cheaper yourself and just put them on, or you can find higher quality options for the same price. For instance, I noticed the one dealer included a ball mount for $79! You can buy a Curt class III for like $15...
Speaking of Carmax, I had my truck appraised there on Saturday before trading it in at the dealer. There was only one TRD ORP in their system for sale and it was a 2017 (albeit with very low mileage) for $41K! Assuming it didn't have KDSS, who would buy that instead of buying a new 2018 at the dealer for most likely less money? Just goes to show how strong the resale is on these things.

OTD - $38,200 (this includes the tax credit I'm getting for my trade in NY)
Any thoughts? Worth the extra $2600 for an ORP? So far best I've gotten there is $38,600 + TTL on an '18.

Which dealer on Long island? We are getting to start searching.We prefer the TRD Base with SDSS.
I've worked through a lot of dealers, but this one is actually from NJ. The best on LI I've found price-wise were Penn (speak to Joe Jordan) and Advantage. That being said, as far as the Toyota inventory search is concerned there are no Off Road Base models with KDSS within 100 miles of here. You'd have to get an Off Road Premium to get KDSS. I looked for the same thing and eventually gave up.
By the way, I'd avoid Smithtown and Huntington. Both sales managers were downright rude. Huntington told me they didn't need my business because I asked for a price under MSRP and Smithtown let me place a refundable deposit but won't refund without either pictures of my credit card or me physically driving in from 45 mins away.

Thanks for sharing the local info....we met a couple during this past summer camping in Montauk Hither Hills who had his and her 16 and 17 Runners....pretty cool seeing two side by side on the camping spot....anyway, they pretty much said the same as you about the local pursuit....i guess I'll research what the Premium adds to the TRD with SDSS.
No problem! That is a pretty cool setup, though I think my SO is happy with her Civic for now haha.
The Premium basically adds leatherette seats and the option for a sunroof. There are a few other tiny things, but those are the major differences. This is also why the sticker is a couple grand more.
For me, the sunroof was a must. Leatherette vs cloth wasn't too big for me, but I love having the extra light come in.
Check on toyota.com -> shopping tools -> search inventory. You can filter for KDSS cars that way, then match the exact MSRP on cars.com to see where they are. To my knowledge, I know there is a blue '17 ORP with KDSS at Toyota in Bay Shore.

That sounds like a pretty solid deal. Of course, it depends on how bad the dealer bent you over on your trade, haha. Not judging you at all, because I typically always opt to trade rather than sell private party.
Thanks! I was trading in my '12 VW GTI. Unfortunately the values on those have basically tanked from the Dieselgate scandal, but the dealer gave me a pretty fair number given the market for them now. Ended up getting 12k for it, whereas a dealer in Virginia tried to give me $8k. Wasn't happy about the overall value, but this dealer was more than fair. Plus, the tax credit helps me make up most of the money I'd have gotten from going private. On this one it was over $1000.
I really loved the GTI, but between current back and knee issues it just became too small. I'm sad to see it go, but I really like the 4Runner so far.

I purchased my 2017 TRD Off Road Premium in September.
Purchase price: $39,950
Taxes, fees & licensing: $3,475
Total cost: $43,425
Unfortunately, there was next to no wiggle room in the price of my 4R, as the used models are going for the same rate, and a few are even more with the same trim.
None the less, i absolutely LOVE my runner and do not regret buying it for a second.

New to the forum and new to 4Runners. Traded in my jeep JK for a 2018 TRD ORP with no KDSS. I think i got a decent deal. Doc fees seemed high but they offered more off MSRP than any other dealership i bothered. In Phoenix AZ
