They didn’t have it with all the accessories I wanted. It was bone stock and after a lot of price negotiations I had them add everything before I drove it out the lot.

Paid around 39k for my ORP with the upgrade package 2 weeks ago in the DFW area. Although you'd have to endure that drive up 35 which can be a beating.
Oh wow. See, that's what I'm talking about. I do that drive a few times of year and have learned to deal with it. It's Thunderdome for sure, but maybe worth it.

That's good. Yeah, I've been there 3 times in the last couple weeks and they were just the worst experiences I've ever had at a dealership. They left my wife and I hanging in the parking lot for over 20 minutes twice on Saturday while they looked for keys to try to dig a car out. We finally just left. I never did see one with an offroad upgrade package though. Glad it worked out for you.
Same here. I wonder if we are pissing off the same dealers. I was just told 38.7 is the lowest below invoice they can go on a white ORP w/moonroof. Base. No kdss or other options. 42.8 with OR upgrade package. Laughable.
Still trying to decide if kdss is with it for my scenario.

Somewhere in this thread someone post a letter he used as a mass email to dealers for quotes when he was in the market for his 4runner. I just saw it 2 days ago and didn't save it or the page it was on. Has anyone else saved it or know what page it can found on? I would like to use it as a reference when doing a similar letter

Great idea. Dealerrater.com has a lot of email addresses for sale people at dealerships so you don't have to hit each dealer website.
First off it wasn't me . In 2011 I did something similar. I wrote emails to selected dealers in three different states. I learned that Toyota has different zones for there allocations. You may not find what your looking for in your state. This was my case, I could not find a SR5 4x4 in pearl white without a third seat in Calif. Even at the largest Toyota Dealer in the world.
I got two hits, both from Nevada. I called both dealerships to verify the 4R had everything I wanted. When I asked for the Vin# I realized it was the same Truck. Both of these dealerships are owned by the same company. The good news is I was dealing with two different sales people. I negotiated over the phone and ended up getting the best deal and some extras. I did fly up to pick it up. I had to pay The Calif taxes and Licence when I got back in Calif. Ouch.
In the past I had always ordered my Trucks (Chevy/Ford) from the factory the way I wanted. I tried that with Toyota and it didn't work. The dealer all said they could order one but in reality all they were doing was try to find me a truck from the California allocations and would not check outside the state.
There is a thread here about this by Harper7 . "West coast vs East coast Allocation" This explains why you can't always get what you want. " We Make It Easy On You" is there slogan, I say BS
The bottom line is SUPPLY and DEMAND. Licence and Taxes are a local issue.
