How much are people paying for the NEW 4Runner?

Hey guys so I am looking at purchasing a 2018 4Runner OR but did not want the KDSS. The dealer says if you dont want KDSS that your color choices are only red or white. Is this true? I see a fair amount of you have purchased vehicles without KDSS.
Could be,I know in the Midwest(Minnesota) there are certain combos,(dumb I know) if you go to Toyota website and custom build one and then on the summary page scroll down and you should see "view inventory" that will let you see all of what is in your region (zip code). For instance if I wanted one with kdss and a moon roof I would have to go to Colorado(different region) and when I just selected kdss it eliminated colors. You could always look in a different region for it.

I've been lurking for a few days and decided to post. I live in north Florida and emailed a few toyotas in florida and one in GA. my first email back i got $36.4 for a grey ORoad in Orlando and $36.6 for a silver ORoad in GA. I couldn't tell if either had KDSS. I have been preapproved already and have a check from my bank.

**EDIT- a dealer quite far away from me emailed me back. He said he would do $35k plus taxes and fees if we financed with them. He said if I pay cash, it would be $1,000-$1,500 more (which would STILL be lower than my 2nd place price). What do you guys think? why would it be more if i am paying cash? should i push?

I highly doubt it. We’ve purchased a couple cars from Toyota and played the I’ll walk out and walked out...we did get them to budge .... I don’t think by 5K on a 4 runner, no way. I would say 1500 max if the dealer is hard up for a sale, but just in the last month I see these 2018 black 4 runners everywhere, they are selling like hot cakes.

Rooting for everyone to get $5,000 off, doubtful, but if it is possible, it is anything but typical/average, IMO. Around here, KY, if you go to dealer's websites, you are seeing discounts from $1,500 - $3,000, higher amounts are usually on the Limited. This is what they are advertising before you even start negotiating.

Depending upon the model and options, roughly about $2,400-2,800 gets you to about invoice, then you start getting into holdback, etc., unless Toyota has rebates - which are more rare for the 4RNR. I searched several states and emailed multiple dealers, most settled right around invoice. Bought when I found one who would dip below invoice and give me more than others on my trade.

I bought mine 2 weeks ago and got 5k off msrp without even a big hassle. Pat lobb Toyota in McKinney, TX. I’m sure anyone could get the same deal.

I wrote out a very general statement inquiring about a white or silver TRD Premium 4Runner. Nothing specific other than it had to be a TRD Premium and one of those colors. I opened my search radius to 200 miles and shot the e-mail out rapid fire style to any dealer with one on the lot. I didn't even have to retype anything because the e-mail was saved through the website...all I did was open a new tab and hit send for each one and wait for responses. As they all came in I noticed one was way below everything else I had seen. He actually quoted me $36,549 right out of the gate, and didn't even flinch whenever i asked for the dealer fee to be removed. Beyond that I never even tried to haggle him, we exchanged several e-mails and I was on my way. I never spoke to the guy or met him personally, everything was done via e-mail. While sitting at the table with the salesman, I asked if they could throw in a complete set of all-weather mats. He got up and went to the parts dept. and came back with a complete new set still in box.

Seriously, the easiest buying experience I believe I could have.

If you don't mind, what website exactly did you use to create this correspondence, entering the search radius and sending initial emails?

TIA

I'll just say a new 2018 TRD ORP with moonroof, tinted windows, exhaust tip, cross bars was under $44K in Arizona. Screw all the CA dealers I dealt with.

If you finance through them they will make money on a portion of interest you pay for taking out loan with them. Moreover, they will finance you at a higher interest rate. You can finance with them to get $1000-$1500 off and then refinance with your preferred lender once you have purchased the truck. Just make sure you read truth in lending document first before financing with the delaership.

Carson Toyota - Super White TRDORP

$1,300 under window sticker which is about $5K less than any other dealer wanted. Would have been more if I had wanted silver or one of the less popular colors.

I think I’m about to buy up all the TRD off road premiums and TRD pros here on the east coast and ship them out west to sell. Seems like I’d make a fortune. You can buy a Pro at MSRP and get $4K off of a TRD off road premium. I’ll undercut the greedy dealers in CA and make a fortune.

Depends on what MSRP you’re referring to. Toyota dealers (at least in gulf states Toyota region) can be really sketchy about MSRP numbers due to the add ons. They say it’s MSRP, but they jack it up by nickeling and diming with the port/dealer add ons. TRD ORP non-KDSS is really about a $40k MSRP vehicle. If you can do $3000-$3500 off, that’s pretty decent. Now if they jack up MSRP to $45k with add ons that aren’t really worth that and then give you $5K off that number, then you’re not really doing any better.

Thanks for the tip. Internet sales manager called me back last night and had me at a rate better than my bank. 3% vs. 4.5%. I'll still keep my banks check until the car is purchased, just in case lol. I have to decide on white or silver.

EDIT- i'm also interested to know what standard perks your purchased 4R dealership offers to see if they are normal perks or really good ones because I know dealerships offer different perks. For example the one I'm dealing with has free lifetime oil change, free window tinting with new car purchase and free hotdogs.

Sticker

I was happy to pay sticker when the dealers were trying to get $3-5k markup (this was last Aug in the Los Angeles area).

NEW YORK...new owner!!!!..2018 TRD Premium with KDSS...MSRP $42443.....$39379 plus TTL
...door edge guards,wheel locks,running boards,cargo mats....Nautical Blue

Just got home Monday (east central florida) from 3 weeks on the road and noticed quite a few 4Runners at the local dealer 2 min away. They never have more than a few at a time for years.

Website has 15 listed, one is a Cavalry Blue Pro I saw roll off the hauler this morning. Several SR5 premiums, a TRD Off Road and Off Road Premium, a couple of LEs, and of course a couple base SR5s.

I noticed they are putting the SE Toyota "XP" appearance package on SR5 Premium 4wds not just 2wds now. Hadn't noticed that before.

Is Japan catching up or are the sales dropping? Gas prices are up a little here.......

Never negotiated the price and the financing together. Agree on a price first. Only then do you let him run your credit to see if he can beat what your bank is giving you. Linking the two is unethical.

That said, if it's still cheaper, take the best deal. But watch the paper work very carefully.

Bought White 2018 T4R TRD Offroad with upgraded Entune for $35,600 + tax. Price includes dealer doc fee. I was working with a diffefent dealership that agreed to sell me a white Offroad w/o upgraded entune for $35,200. I gave them deposit and booked my flight to fly out next Wed to close tbe deal. The salesman called me a few hours later to tell me that they forgot to add $900 clear bra price to the purchase price and offered to split the cost. I felt that the dealership was jerking me around so ended up buying it from a different dealership that had similar vehicle but with upgrade entune.

If I was not dead set on buying white exterior color, I would probably had more leverage to negotiate price down to 34,500.

Anyone looking to buy a 2018 TRD Offroad Premium with moon roof and KDSS for 37,900 + taxes, send me a pm and I will give you salesman info. Name of the dealership is Milton Ruben in GA. Same dealership sold a silver 2018 Offroad premium to one of the members of this forum for $36,300. I tried but they didn't budge on the price. $37,900 was their final offer. If it was white exterior, I would have bought the truck.

Thanks for all the help and tips T4R community. Ended up with a 2018 Silver OR for $33,750 + TTL. I'm pretty excited to learn more about this vehicle and to be a regular on this forum. Everyone here is so helpful. I'm very appreciative.
