How much are people paying for the NEW 4Runner?

That's a whole lot of shenanigans to go through.

What was MSRP when new for you 2016?

When I was shopping last month for a used one with low miles, it was pretty close to MSRP and dealers were not willing to deal. I felt did not make sense to buy used one with low miles.

So I began looking at new ones. Most dealers gave $2000 to $2500 off MSRP and they felt like they were giving me some kind of super deal

I emailed Freeman Toyota and they have $4000 off MSRP right away. I used that offer to negotiate with local dealers again. Some local dealers thought I was making it up or told me they couldn't match their offer. Then two dealers changed their mind and began negotiating again.

One dealer matched $4000 off and couldn't do any better.

Another dealer gave me $4274 off so I went with them.

MSRP $41274
Selling price $37000 before TTL.

I still came in under MSRP with TTL.

I wanted to get $5000 to $6500 off MSRP like a lot of people in Florida but I don't think that is possible in California.

I'd say you got it pretty solid. I couldn't get any California, Arizona, or Utah dealers to budge on anything- and I was shopping used!

Not sure of the original sticker on this one- bought mine certified pre-owned. I know the KBB trade-in value with its specs and mileage was $35K (Trail Premium, KDSS, sunroof, plain cargo, 16K miles). I wanted a gently used truck, but no one would quote me lower than $40K in a 500 mile radius. Absolutely bonkers. That's why I was happy to snap this one up for $1K over trade-in. The 100K mile warranty and brand new tires were what sealed the deal. Great experience at the dealer as well. Ron Tonkin Toyota and my sales guy was Willy Maddox.

I seem to recall some people in this thread from SoCal got close to $4k off MSRP for brand new TRD Off Road Premium with KDSS, for like $37k to $38k before TTL.

Most dealers are not willing to lower the price on used vehicles because they don't get any incentives.

However they are willing to lower the price by a lot on brand new vehicles because they get kick backs and bonuses from Toyota for volume and customer satisfaction. So even if they sell a new vehicle at a loss, they will come out ahead at the end after they get their kick backs and bonuses from Toyota.

thoughts on the deal?

steer clear of Red McCombs in San Antonio -- bait and switch.

Think I finally found the deal
2018 TRD Off Road Premium
Super White
Moonroof
Charging and Connectivity Kit (no big deal here)
Cargo Cover
Cross bars for roof
tube step running boards

40500 (includes TTL)

2018 SR5 Premium w/ Moonroof (MGM)
MSRP: $39,635
Discount: $4000 (10% off MSRP)
Paid: $35,635 + TTL

I had to work about 6 dealers here (Minneapolis) to get that price over a 3 week span.

Hi - I am in Minneapolis area as well... just starting to look at 18's. Can you share who you ended up going with at 10% off deal? thanks.

I just picked up a 2018 White TRD off-road premium (fully loaded with moonroof, leather, and TRD mats but no KDSS) for $37,000 flat before TTL.

It was nearly impossible to get this price in the color I wanted and took a lot of haggling because SUV and truck prices are really inflated in the South where I live.

I only ended up getting that deal because the dealership wanted to take business away from their competitor who I had already gotten quotes from.

Of course they also thought they could (and did try) to screw me on financing and get me to buy all sorts of extra crap like extended warranties but I held my ground.

In fact it was borderline disgusting tactics they used to try to convince me that Toyotas aren't reliable get me to buy about 7k in extra warranties.

Considering reporting that Finance individual to Toyota corporate, as they were harming the brand perception just to make a few bucks of commission. Anyone think that would be a worthwhile thing to do? Not sure if anyone would take action on the person in question but it makes me mad that someone like that is hurting the brand and driving away potential owners, not to mention scamming them out of a lot of money.

Taking delivery of it in about a week, really excited.

For anyone else in the south, does that sound like a good price to you?

TRD-ORP is finally in the county. Dealer said 6 weeks but it turned into 3 months since it has been ordered. The usual ORP package with all weather floor liners, roof cross bars, it may have the chrome exhaust tip IDK been so long since I ordered it and of course KDSS which is why I waited so long was the dealers excuse. I hope it has the Bridgestones and not the Dunlops, every T4R I've gotten has had the Dunlops. I've seen a few with Bridgstone Duellers just not the trim I wanted. Pick up tomorrow.
$42,625 OTD Tax & Title

UPDATE; Dealer said it was difficult to find a Premium with out moonroof but with KDSS and therefore the reason it took so long. I didn't even think I could get a premium with out moonroof but I have one sitting in the garage and it does have the Duellers.

2018 TRD Premium with moonroof, KDSS, cross rails, all weather mats and exhaust tip, super white, $39,750 out the door. MSRP was $42,750.

Used Truecar, spoke with 3 dealerships and played their numbers against each other, was a huge headache but I'm happy. My first new Trail model in 2015 I paid MSRP and no one would budge on that, so anything below MSRP I felt was a win this time around.

I believe the dealership I went with lowered their price more because I was trading in a 2017 Audi Allroad with some custom features, and they wanted that car for some reason.

got a 2017 trd off road yesterday in Irvine, CA. paid 40110. Was the only white within a few hundred miles with KDSS and nav. my dealer here in Ontario was gonna give me a better deal but Irvine refused to trade with them. Got 3.55% for 72 mo. through Toyota with tier 1 credit. Rates are high in general right now. its hard to get below 3.99% and i have a score in the 800's.

Was it 40,110 OTD? I am looking for a similar deal but Off Road Premium, I wasn't able to get 4%, do you have a contact you worked with?

Deal or no deal?

Been wanting a 4Runner for years now, finally ready to pull the trigger! I’ve got a dealer lined up at $33,200 for a new 2018 4WD SR5 with lifetime powertrain warranty and Toyoguard Platinum (blah blah, dealer trick but they claim costs $600-700 so if that’s included in the quote above, meh). I think it also has a trailer hitch and premium audio.

I’m putting $5000 down and my credit is in the 800s.

Opinion: should I keep haggling or do you guys think this is about as low as they’re going to go?

Depending on the MSRP, but assuming around the standard $37800 SR5 model, I'd say the price is pretty good. If you don't actually want the Toyogaurd Platinum and it is already in that quote, have them remove it and save yourself $650. If I recall right, it only extends the ToyotaCare coverage for another two-ish years? If you want it, then leave it in. Overall, price seems good if it is what your want!

2012 sr5

I purchased my grey 2012 SR5 with a little over 94k miles from Virginia for $23,500 in June 2017. It has a navigation system and upgraded interior. I paid about $1000 to have it shipped to Utah.

$4500 of a new base 4WD SR5 is a good deal especially if that includes a couple extra full synthetic oil changes and tire rotations (assuming you don't plan to do them yourself). Are there any other Toyota dealerships in your area that have a similar 4Runner you'd be happy with? If so, have you bounced that priced quote off of them to see if they'd beat it given that tomorrow is the end of the month?

FYI, the free dealer provided lifetime powertrain warranty from the dealers around here require all services to be done through that dealer. That means that u basically have to go there every 6 months/12 months.

Few days ago I bought 2018 4Runner SR5, white with 3rd row seats. Dealer price was 38100$, they gave me 2350$ discount. And also I had trade 09 Mercedes Gl450 with 123K, they said at the beginning 5750$ for it, but after the long conversation they paid me 10000$ for it. After that I become a new happy 4Runner owner)

It’s A Deal!

The dealership actually came down another $1000 to $32,200. I recently pitted like 4 dealerships against each other and this was by far the best offer. No one else could touch it, and one guy even told me I’d be crazy not to take his competitor’s deal.

I’m headed to pick up my new 4Runner tomorrow, and I am so excited! I feel really good about this deal.
