How much are people paying for the NEW 4Runner?

Freeman quoted me a pretty low price to begin with, but I received a lower quote from Stockton Toyota and eventually Hansel Toyota in Petaluma. I came back with the lower offer from Stockton Toyota and Freeman was quick to beat everyone else on price.

YMMV, of course, but that was my experience with a different model.

Thanks for the heads up. I'll contact those two dealerships as well.

Nope. Always wanted KDSS, but was told this when I asked if they had any non-KDSS models to test drive. As someone who isn’t too savvy with this sort of thing, wanted to see if I could feel any difference on my own.

Actually went and test drove one (TRD Off Road with KDSS) today there is a difference that is noticeable if you ask me. I personally own a SR5 Premium that does not have KDSS.

Just purchased a new '18 Limited. Sticker $46,100 and paid $42k. Traded in '18 GMC Denali with a bunch of equity, and OTD for $23k. Love my new black/black Limited. Ordered 275/55/20 BFG KO2's.

Just for my own knowledge, why did you trade in the Denali.

The transmission started shifting violently, and loud clunks at times. The interior has 99% plastic which I knew going into the purchase, but after just a couple of weeks, the interior rattled like fireworks. Overall, it felt very cheap and I expected more out of a $66k truck. Therefore, having owned many Toyota/Lexus products over the years, I decided to come back to a brand that I know has quality and reliability. I didn't "need" a truck as it was a want, but prefer the 4Runner as it's easier to park, a little better on gas, and I am confident will provide me many years of dependable ownership.

Negotiating the deal

Buying a new 4Runner at the dealership will be quite the experience. They will try to get every nickle and dime out of you so just remember, the person selling you a car is not your friend! Of course they will be nice and are nice people but their main goal is to get as much out of the sale as they can. Be kind and genuine but don't think that they will give you the best deal because they are your friend.

A couple of negotiating tips:
- Do not talk about financing, trade in, or what you'd like your monthly payments to be until you have negotiated the out the door price. If you tell them you want to trade in a car and pay X amount a month upfront, they will be able to work a deal that matches your number but you may end up with a longer financing deal and paying much more than you should.
- The car will have an MSRP but the dealer has a dealer invoice price that is quite a bit below that. They might try to tell you that is what they paid but in that, there is a dealer holdback fee of about 3% and a dealer incentive that is roughly another $1,000 they bake into the price. There are also other hidden fees that can be negotiated out.
- The dealer will try to low ball your trade it. Always shoot much higher than what you think it is worth so you can negotiate down to a fair trade in value.
- Toyota says they won't offer good interest rates on 4Runner because they are in such high demand. If you can, find a local credit union to finance the car. They can offer you a much better rate because they are non-profit where a dealership is for profit and will make a lot of money off your financing. That is why you don't talk financing until after you have negotiated the lowest purchase price. If they think you will finance with them, they might sell you the car for less because they will make their money on the financing. Maybe say you'll finance with them so you can get the lowest price and after you agree on the price, say you are financing with someone else (assuming you have that lined up)

I ended up getting my new SR5 Premium for 11% less than MSRP which was lower than another dealership was trying to sell me a standard SR5 for.

I have a lot of other tips and am happy to share them with you so you can get the best deal possible.

Just let me know!

I have a trade that’s worth maybe 1200 and I’m hoping to get one OTD for 45-46k.

Fees for my area
$80 Dealer Doc Fee
$8.75 CA Tire Fee
$596 DMV Title & Licensing Fee (will be lower because I’ll reuse my old plates)
$3714.07 Sales Tax

I’m already preapproved at 3.29% and my lowest first quote so far has been 43,216 MSRP which brings the OTD to 47,616

Yes, if it is 4wd.

Yep 4WD. I was so close to pulling the trigger but...

One complication.......I went and took a TRD Off Road Premium w/ KDSS for a test drive and now I think I just talked myself into spending a little more....

offroad premium KDSS moon roof
39300 before cash rebate -750 +TTL

Marginal amount more to get KDSS and whatever other goodies ORP offers

After TT&L I paid $41k out the door for a 2018 nautical blue TRD Premium with KDSS, roof rack bars, and the 3m paint protection. That’s a few grand under sticker. We used Costco to figure out what the dealer cost was, and then had a few dealerships work each other...the 4Runner I bought had an additional $10k dealer markup sticker in the window too... they wanted over $50k, yeah right.

Ended up paying 46.5k OTD after my 1200 trade. MSRP 43.6k down from 48.4k, all in all I’m happy with the deal and glad to have my wife in a new 4Runner.
