How much are people paying for the NEW 4Runner?

Looking at purchasing a 2018 4wd limited white with black interior. Dealer offered 40,600 before tax tag and title. No dealer fee. Is this a solid deal or can I do better?

We finally pulled the trigger, after weeks and weeks of dealer nonsense. We got this one, TRD Offroad Premium with KDSS, rear sliding cargo deck, predator bars, TRD Matte black wheels with Nitto Grapplers, had a 2012 X-Terra Pro4X that was traded, all for $27,000 OTD. They did do a bait and switch, but we drove 4 hours and said f it, as it was just around the number we were looking for....they originally agreed to $39,500 OTD without accessories. We are happy either way!

39.5 OTD for that is unreal. 43k here in Hawaii as there is only one Toyota distributor called Servco

What was the mistake?

Ill try to make a long story short, I saw it on car guru listed as New 2018 4runner TRD Off Road Premium - Price 34.1K, I requested confirmation that exact vehicle was there at that price. I got a text, email and call from the dealers internet dept. along with an email and confirmation thru car guru confirming availability and price.

They said come in and take a test drive that they'll have it out front waiting, this was also on Memorial day. I went it was there I drove it and the salesmen mentioned he had a 2017 same trim with 21k miles for 40 or 41k. My wife asked how the hell do you sell a new car in the same trim for less then a used one? He replied with a dumb look on his face... Huh? He said the silver one is around 43K, I said that's not what you guys confirmed in my text and email... He asked me to send him all the emails and texts.. He went to the desk came back with a piece a paper and said $34.4k do we have a deal??? They didn't even argue with me... I also trades my SRT Jeep in and they gave me 31k for it which was pretty good since they only listed it for 34.5K.

Dammm.... you robbing them!

Hey everyone,

So I am in the market for a 2018 T4R TRD OR either in SW or MGM. So, apparently within the Bay Area, the SW seems to be running up in higher price ranges than MGM.

From my research, only the MBM will be offered without running boards (-$350). I do not want the running boards because it'll be useless to me (since I'll be picking up some RSG or C4Fab rock sliders).

However, upon emailing dealers, and utilizing TRUECAR, I've been able to get the price of a MGM to drop to approximately 41k OTD.

From your guys' professional opinion, what else can I do in order to drop this price even further? I am trying to aim for ~39.5k OTD. It'll be the range I am aiming for that'll fit my budget.

Are there any tips/tricks you guys may be able to provide me to drop it to this price?

My experience has been that you have far more buying power when you are sitting in the dealership, especially near the end f the month. I would look through this thread at the deals folks are getting in your area TRD OR's and take that info to the dealer.

Are you looking at the off-road premium, or regular off-road? If it's not the premium, I think you're selling yourself short at $39.5k OTD.

Have patience and work dealers against each other. If you find a deal in this thread, reach out to that specific dealer and ask if they'll give you the same deal. This tactic worked for me and could end up saving me $3k if we decide to buy.

New? If new, that’s a great deal, they’re usually around 45-46 before tax and title. Used, that’s still a good deal, they retain their value extremely well.

Was that WITH sales tax??

Yepp, but I got a major break on sales tax. I traded in my previous car (chevy equinox) and broke even on the trade/loan value. So no equity but it did stop me from being taxed on about 15k of the new car. Taxes, $99 Tag fees, and $239 dealer fee.

Yeah, here's one: don't buy in California. Do all of your test driving and nitpicking locally, then find a dealer in a popular hub city that actually has the price you want. Hammer out the details, agree on a price, then fly out cheaply to pick it up and drive home. Voila!

What state is this? I thought invoice on that vehicle was $41,546 (Edmunds) not including dealer/destination fee. Thanks!

If you buy out of sate but you reside in CA, they'll go after you for the taxes.

Nobody "goes after you". You pay the dealer applicable TTL and registration fees for the county and state that you'll register the car in. There's no way around those, but at least you can ditch the BS California pricing.

Exactly! I would rather pay Arizona or Nevada pricing them that BS California pricing plus a few local stealerships wanted a dealer markup of $2k- $4K :lmao:
