How much are people paying for the NEW 4Runner?

2018 TRD Pro Cavalry Blue

Will be taking delivery of this on Saturday after Hurricane Lane passes.
Only one dealership on the island. No negotiation on price. Placed an order in November 2017 with $5000 deposit. Salesman included the cargo tray and the cargo cover.
Base Price......................$43687
Destination Charge..........$995
Factory Installed Options..$345
MSRP.............................$45027 + taxes and fees
Traded in 2015 Acura MDX base model with 29k miles for $24000 which I’m not too pleased.

No trade, 2 emails, one phone call. Attempting out of state was a waste of time, as one dealer said in Colorado, "no bargain". Damn right it wasn't, priced at 50k+. what he was trying to tell me is he wasn't budging. things may have changed, he's called/emailed twice since.

Should also add that I had been tracking two local to me dealers for over six months. One had zero pro's during this time, the other had just one and it was a white one. After growing frustrated with my out-of-state search I actually signed up for a tru-car account, instead of just browsing it with out actually signing up. After I did I was told (again) the closest dealer was not part of true car but one who had in the past, had the white one, was a participant. Withing 5 minutes of signing up I got a call from the second dealer. I told them what I was looking for and they said they had none at the time but they could check to see if they had any coming in. Less than 5 minutes later I got a call back and they had the color I was specifically looking for and was due in what turns out to be 11 days later. I left them my cc #(never actually charged anything to it) and pic of my ID. It came in 11 days later with 1 mile on it. So there was some luck and good timing involved for sure.

What island you on? Last I heard people are waiting 6+ months for their Pro's nothing sitting on the lots.

Oahu. Waited 9 mos.
Interestingly, since 2019 models are just around the corner, I asked if I could cancel the 2018 and be 1st in-line for the 2019 model. Salesman’s response, “the dealership will only be allotted 21- 2019 TRD Pro model for the year and it will be sold on lottery system.”

I wish I had the patience to wait that long. I seen a blue TRD Pro at the Mapunapuna location on Monday when I went down ready for pick up.

Just waiting for mine Off Road to be ready after this damn storm.

best offer i have been able to get for a 2018 sr5. too bad there arent many used options in my area.

Howsit Hawaiians, my friend who works for Servco said all the lottery 2019 PROs sold out in one day. Some guys just put deposits down in hopes of making money on them, particularly the special color ones. Here's one for 57k:

Personally I think the PRO is way overpriced/hyped, I'd rather have the ORP with KDSS for 9k less

That's an amazing deal, just picked up a 4x2 Premium with same package for $39K in California

All dealers in Cali should be tried for teason!

Funny thing is I had cash and highly motivated, they tried to scam me and I took my business to another state.

Outcome cement TRD pro sticker, $400 one way flight, trip of a lifetime back!

You know what the best part is? Going to the dealer for Toyota care maintenance, walking around the dealership, when asked if I’m interested in a vehicle, I tell them “ nah, my trd pro is getting its oil change, your dealership tried to screw me and I’m here to tell potential customers to take their business elsewhere. “

Also how they grobble to me if I want to trade her in!! Lol sure but I’m going to have to give a “ market adjustment on top of your market adjustment, add B.S add-on costs, and finance you for 7 years @ 7.24 APR.”

No idea what your fifth wheel comment references, but if you can price a 17' Cruiser to anything similar to a 18' 4Runner then make the jump, if anything for re-sale value. 15k miles is nothing considering they're both Toyota's, that's still new in my mind. Drive both again and decide for yourself, but the improvement in power, interior, and overall driving experience would make it an easy decision for me. Or buy the cruiser and I'll trade you my built 4Runner, no joke! Just my opinion!

No I’ll trade him my 2017trd pro for it!!

100% agree. But the resale is as ridiculous as what some people are paying new.

Why do you think most dealers make their own “ quasi” pros.

I love mine but what you don’t take in consideration is once you own a pro, dealerships treat you different. You are in control and could trade it in as well as lock another one up.
No extended warranty needed because you could basically get a new vehicle when the 3 year bumper to bumper is done.

It’s like house flipping.

You have to remember they are used to get you on the lot. Once you feel defeated you’ll settle and say for that $ I’ll build a lower trim out. That’s true but now you devalued the 4Runner while the pro holds.

It takes work to get one for MSRP but if you do welcome to the club.

I love my cement and I rarely see them for sale. But I’m not stupid and know it will be a way to basically acquire free 4Runners for years to come!

Heck some guy here traded his 16 with 58k miles for $37K. Not going to happen with any other trim

The PRO definitely holds its value the best if it's the special color but "most" guys are paying above MSRP. So in theory, you're paying much more for it vs an ORP that has KDSS and/or moonroof. Two options I personally want which ironically don't come on the PRO. From what I've seen in resale, the 4R in general has the best ROI over any other vehicle in it's class, especially if a premium 4x4. So really they're all rather proportioned in the long run.

TRD Offroad premium with KDSS and cross bars. MSRP of 41,925, Purchase price of 36,591 after 1k rebate. Thanks to druuu88 for the dealer recommendation!

I just got into a black 18 TRD Off Road base on Monday. No KDSS, but they threw in floor mats. MSRP was $39k+, had it reduced to $36500. Was able to talk them down to $34494. I traded in a 16 Colorado Z71 with only 20k miles on it. They gave me $28k and I owed $17500 on it. Used that equity and an additional $5k on my down payment. Was out the door at $20666.65, or at least that’s the amount I financed.

Good info for me - thanks! I'd like to get a 2018/2019 TRDOR (not Premium, no KDSS) and was thinking it'll be around $40k out the door (Ohio sales tax and all). Sounds like just MAYBE I can get one for a couple thousand less.

Congrats on your buy!

I was at the local Toyota dealership here in Central FL yesterday for my 5,000 service when I saw this PRO in the showroom. Surprisingly they said it’s been sitting in the showroom for a month! It’s a beautiful Calvary Blue and I believe the red & black pin stripes are custom (this dealership frequently adds pin stripes to their vehicles). Normally I’m not a huge fan but they complement the TRD nature of the truck beautifully! Also notice the knobby 265/70/17 Nittos, Rear Pull Out Cargo Tray, Roof Rack Cross Bars, & paint protection (clear bras).

They said that at the moment there isn’t the demand for the Pros like there normally is (a bit hard for me to believe). If that is truly the case for this unicorn then this may work in your favor when it comes to negotiating a final price.

The dealership is Wesley Chapel Toyota (an hour north of Tampa). They were my first stop when I was looking for my TRD ORP. The Sales Manager Luis Veas is absolutely terrific & even though I ultimately found the best deal for my baby in Georgia, I would highly recommend Luis! His main line is 813-973-8888. PM me for his cell & email. Tell him Glenn sent you.

They were willing to discount my ORP 6.3%, but like I said the dealership I bought from in GA sold me my baby for 12.5% off. Seeing that it is at the end of the month and this PRO has been sitting in the show room for a month now, the stars may be aligned, which you’ll need unless you’re willing to pay the $55k sticker! This dealership pushes a lot of Toyotas so I think they’d be willing to work with you.

Anyway, figured I’d post to the forums in hopes it finds a happy / deserving home! I have a couple more pics, PM me if you have any q’s. (It’s my first time posting pics in a while so hopefully these links work, if they don’t I’ll try to edit them until they do).

With a price of $55,000, it will likely sit there for a while longer.
