How much are people paying for the NEW 4Runner?

January 2018 we ordered an ‘18 TRD Off Road Premium with only KDSS & Sunroof with a lifetime drivetrain warranty & paid less than $3,000 off MSRP. As this is for my 74yo Mom who lives halfway across the country we also got the Toyota Extra Care Vehicle Service Agreement (VSA)-Platinum Warranty 8yr/125,000miles for $1,500. I searched several markets ranging from the Pacific NW to CO to Kansas City & the central Midwest. It definitely pays to call around, in fact I do almost all my purchases remotely these days - way less B.S. on the phone. I just called the dealer & asked to speak to the Sales Mgr. Buying at the end of the quarter can help too. Also, you can buy the Warranty separate from the vehicle (different dealers) & I think you have 3yrs/36K to make that decision (double check those last limits).

Canadian here. Walked out of the door with a 2018 SR5 for $54K CAD2 weeks ago. So... like $22.76 USD.

That included 5% sales tax and all the bullshit fees which were like $3500:
* 3M
* Undercoat
* Lifetime free oil changes
* Lifetime free exterior wash (weather permitting)
* Extended warranty which includes the first 3 years of service for free
* Rear cargo liner (the fancy Canadian one)
* 2 sets of floor mats (I threw them in storage and bought WeatherTech mats)
* Upgrade package (2tone leather, sunroof, 3rd row seating, running boards, etc.)

Sounds like I should have bought a TE from down south.

Since, I've installed a vinyl wrap kit to black out the middle, bilstein 5100s in all 4 corners (2.5" front and 1" rear), text car starter (can start from anywhere in the world provided my phone and vehicle are in locations with cell phone reception), and tinted front windows.

I'm currently organizing a group buy for th 17x8 TX TRD Pro replicas from FN Wheels for shipment to Edmonton, AB, Canada. Might throw some 285s on there, but I'm scared of rubbing since it seems to be hit or miss with my setup. Might get UCAs tossed on to make sure it doesn't happen.

Is Toyota trying to push the Off Road Package on the 2019 TRD Off Road Premiums? We're shopping for a TRD ORP for my wife and so far every one I've seen has the Off Road Package(Pro wheels/tires, black emblems/exhaust tip, side steps, floor mats) and since we intend to change all of that I don't want to pay the $3765 for some stuff I just plan to rip off anyway. Seems ORPs were readily available just a bit ago without that package, and a sales guy acted like Premiums were now only available with this stuff.

If that's the case I'll start the hunt for a standard Off Road.

No he is full of shit. You can get a premium without all that its called the blackout package. I would go to a different dealership. Look on autotrader they have many without it. He's just trying to push whats on the lot because they dont like them to sit to long.

Almost $4K for all that garbage? Definitely pass. Ask him to remove it or walk. You don't need it. The Softex heated seats, sunroof, and mirror defrosters are nice though. Those are the only upgrades on the premium.

I was really wanting the KDSS for its highway ride from what I’ve read and would like some input on the whole thing.
Will the 2018 TRD ride as good or better on the road since it is 5 years newer technology or has the suspension system not changed any since 2013? And the 2013 Trail Edition be the better 4Runner to have for the better ride?

Same thing happened to my parents looking for a highlander. They are lazy and just trying to push a car sale over finding what YOU want. I always try to get an internet sales manager when I call in. If they are busy and try to pawn some other guy off I've learned to say well ill come back when you have time. I dont want to work with anyone else. Try looking at autotrader and cargurus.

I have a 2011 Trail with about 60K miles on it. I added Katzkin leather seats ($1500 installed) and Bilstein front adjustable shocks to level it ($400 installed). Out of curiosity
I test drove a 2018 ORP with KDSS and came away thinking my 2011 handles better and has real leather. I passed on their KBB trade in offer b/c they double dipped me on the offer. Front end has the usual paint chips that need repair and I noted it in applying for the KBB offer. Dealer wanted to charge me for painting it and other dealer prep stuff. Not typical of my dealer, but the KBB manager there comes from their Ford dealership.
I like the KDSS. Mine handles better than my brother's 2010 SR5. I say get the KDSS.

I was lurking a long time and I've read most of this thread going back to late last year to try to get a pulse on the market as I'm thinking of buying new. I am frankly finding some of these prices hard to believe.

I'm looking at 2019 TRD OR vehicles, non premium with KDSS, and Edmunds has the invoice at ~$38,125 (msrp $41,800), yet I'm to believe people are buying TRD ORP equipped vehicles, with KDSS, for a few grand less than the invoice on these non premium trucks, some even claiming "out the door?" (which really confounds me)

I will not single anybody out, but I must be missing something, because hold back is said to be between 2% and 3%, which amounts to less than $800. The best quote I've been able to get is $3,000 under msrp. If Edmunds and everything else I've read is accurate, that's leaving about $1,400 gross profit for the dealership before whatever expenses they may have in terms of time on the lot, etc.

I want to get a good deal and all, but I also understand profit and these businesses need to keep the lights on and pay their employees. I guess I'm just thinking aloud here, before I make a decision that seems right for me.

Out-the-door is sort of a useless price metric anyway, since county registration and taxes vary wildly. I also think some folks are unwittingly saying "out-the-door" when they really mean "this is the price I got it for, NOT including TTL or my trade-in value". Take these posts with a grain of salt, especially the ones with little detail or cost breakdown.

$2500 off MSRP is roughly the invoice price. Recently there was a $1000 rebate for 2018 models.

Dealers can sell them at loss because they get kickbacks and bonuses for the volume they sell. I think they can afford to sell them up to $2000 below their invoice and make it back with bonuses.

However those saying they got $6000+ off MSRP before TTL, I find it hard to believe.

Mine had a MSRP for $41274 and I got it for $37000 before TTL at the time when there was no rebates.
