Thinking about pulling the trigger on a new 2019 TRP + KDSS, no sunroof (preferred), predator tubes, cross bars, floor liners.
MSRP $43,2xx - offering it to me $3,7xx off for a subtotal of $39,500. Total fees $186 OTD. Apparently this offer is at their net cost and he’s going to show me the invoice to prove it.
Where are you seeing $5000 off and did you see the paperwork for the claimed MSRP on those? Were there high fees attached?
I thought this was a good deal but second guessing now.
The dealer has more room than invoice price due to holdback that they will get from the manufacturer when they sell the vehicle. The amount will vary depending on the model, trim level, time of year, and I would assume region. That’s how they can sell below invoice and still make profit to cover operating costs and commissions paid to salesmen. I just picked up a 2019 TRD ORP and we started negatiations at their invoice and KBB trade value for my trade. We met at what I think was a good middle which was another $1700 my way, and a lifetime engine warranty, 4 years of free service, and they paid to ship one with the color/options I wanted in from the next state over.
Edit: Remember also that it’s end of year. Every vehicle they don’t sell prior to 1 Jan will cost them some type of tax (depending on the state) and likely another month of floor plan (essentially a line of credit per vehicle). Tell them you want invoice, no dealer fees, and half of holdback and see where you can go from there.
