How much are people paying for the NEW 4Runner?

What I paid

You should haggle harder, especially on a 2019. Don't be afraid to walk away. I was able to help my Nephew walk out of a dealership with your same truck and option for $39.5K out the door. It was the last 2019 that they had on the lot and we are also located in California.

Good info. Body snatchers, I bought almost the exact same car you are pricing - a 19 TRD ORP, with KDSS, roof, tray. The discount put it at about 37.5 but then the dealer jacked to back up with a bunch of ridiculous fees. I was tempted to walk but the truck was exactly what I wanted. I ended up with an OTD price just under 40 not including taxes (about 4.5% where I live). For comparison sake, I priced out a very similar 20 model. It was going to be 48k, no real room to haggle. So over 50k by the time taxes got tacked on - just more than I was willing to pay. Overall, I’m really pleased with the 19. I didn’t really want Toyota Safety Sense. CarPlay would be nice, but not a must have for me.

There is a stop sale on 2018 and 2019 vehicles right now due to the fuel pump recall. Accordingly, the dealers should be motivated to sell the 2020's and you should be able to get a better deal.

They can sell used 2018's and 19's but not new or certified, so dealers will be sitting on some inventory.

ORP price

First I want to say how helpful this thread was in my negotiations for a 2020 ORP. The total price was $49,134. This included kdss, sliding rear cargo, moonroof, led fog lights, clear paint protection on hood and doors, toyoguard, floor mats, and window tint. This took about a month of standing firm and they finally agreed to $45,500 out the door. So if you back out hard costs for tax, tag and title my cost was $42,200. I closed on 01/02/2020 - cash deal no trade in. Barcelona red. I love my new 4Runner.

Went into a dealer and looked at the window stickers for the first time since I bout mine over 3 years ago... was shocked at how much the pricing had jumped on the TRD Pro, easily 5k+.

If I was going to pay that much I’d seriously consider a GX460 and gain a V8 and 1500lbs additional towing capacity.

Thoughts on this price?

New 2019 Pro
MSRP: $50,251 (price includes add ons)
Discount: $3,342
Sale price: $46,909
Processing Fee: $599

OTD price with tax/title: $50,811

I got my 2020 TRD Off Road Premium for 39115.xx out the door with a bumper to bumper Toyoguard warranty for 150000 miles which includes free oil changes as long as I’m in the Southeast Toyota dealer network. It helped me that my nephew is the sales manager at Panama City Toyota.
He talked me into the 4Runner after I told him I was looking at Wranglers. I couldn’t be happier with the 4Runner and I saved 10 grand over a similarly equipped Wrangler to boot.

Some people have reported that price on a 2020. 19s should go for less as dealers are aching to clear old inventory. Any 19s, not just a runner

What do y'all think of this?

2020 TRD Pro, Army Green: $49,865

Black Overlays: $229
Center Console Safe: $349
Hood and Door film: $618
Phone Cable and charge package: $73
Sliding rear cargo deck: $350
Touch keypad entry: $349
Toyoguard platinum: $699
LED Illumination package: $439

Total Options: $3106

Dealer "Total Value Package": $1885
  • Genuine Toyota Carpet Floor Mats
  • Premium Window Tint
  • Nitrofill Nitrogen
  • 3 Year US Key Replacement Plan

Subtotal: $54856
Discount: $4000

Total before taxes and fees: $50856

I mean obviously the "Total Value Package" doesn't have much value. It's where the dealer is making a profit, so there's no way I'm going to be able to negotiate stuff off that. They did throw me a $4000 discount. Truck is optioned almost exactly as I want it too.

You need to be at 10% off of MSRP for a 2020. Tell them that they can keep their "Total Not-So-Valuable Package." You'll never get this back in resale. I think the total MSRP is $52,971, correct? If so, your offer is $47,674, and then add doc fee and taxes.

Man, I’d love to get that much more off it. Everything I’ve heard up til now is that if you pay sticker for a TRDP, you’re doing pretty well. I Thought the $4k they had taken off was pretty good.

But you’re right; the value package doesn’t really sit well with me. There *might* be $400 worth of value there in an $1900 package.

I just don’t know that I’m going to be that successful at getting anymore off this thing.

I picked up my 2020 TRD Pro Army Green for $49,069 + tax And tags from a Sticker of $52,058. Talked to a few dealers that thought MSRP was a good deal. Coupe even told me they wanted more than MSRP.

So we’re not that far off. This truck is $52971, which is $913 more than yours.

You got yours for $49069 and I’m looking at $50856. That’s a difference of $1787.

Take off the $913 and we’re talking about $874.

If I could get them to take half of that “value package” off, that would basically match your deal.

Was your deal contingent on financing? Because mine is. I have to finance the truck through Toyota, but it’s unclear exactly how much I’ll have to.

They also said that there were like 19 of these trucks in the region. 8 were pre-sold or something, and of the 11 remaining only 2 had the rear cargo deck.

Nothing contingent. I’m bring a check from my credit union.

That is a great idea and negotiation tool. Make the check for the value you feel is fair to you. If they don’t accept, you can just walk. Some dealers may accept on an in stock unit, if there is not much serious interest.

Remember that the last business day of the month is always the best negotiating day. Just go early in the day, so they have time to call you back if you walk.

At the end of the day, the dealers are not emotionally attached to these vehicles. It is just another unit/ sale to their bottom line. Catch them at the right time and a deal can be had.
It’s the buyer that emotionally attach themselves, and what dealers prey on. Those types of buyers always overpay and have buyer’s remorse.

They told me up front that the only reason I was getting this deal was by financing through them. Now, there’s no pre-payment penalty through Toyota financial so I could just go and re-finance it like 30 days later, but I think I’m stuck on initially going through them.
