How much are people paying for the NEW 4Runner?

Remember, there is about $3K added in base price to all 2020 4Runners for the refresh. Toyota safety sense, new head units and center displays, more models with push button start, etc.

That is true, but its only of value if you want those things. Buying these trucks used (unless buying 10+ years old) rarely makes sense. Its a rock and a hard place.

True, I don't particularly care for any of the upgrades. I bought my truck used (2016 Trail Premium) in 2018 and barely saved a few thousand dollars. But I was paying cash, so saving the money and getting the exact truck I wanted was worth it. It took a while to find though.

Not specific to Toyota, but the few times I've talked to people who got 0% APR on their vehicles, they were also people who pay the listed ask on a vehicle.

So, what your guy told you sounds pretty accurate.

The way to get a lower price is to allow them to give you a crappy APR loan, then either pay it off or refinance immediately with your own credit union. An extra $1000 off a sales price is, mathematically, more important than a difference in apr.

Edit: figure I should elaborate... A dealer who finances you, might have you approved at 2.5%, so they present you with a 4.9% loan, and keep the 2.4% for themselves. So, they'll give a lower sales price knowing they're getting it anyway through financing.

Very interesting idea. I’m sure it’d actually work well. The dealership doesn’t care if you refinance later on as long as the numbers look good for them at date of purchase.
Last time I went in for negotiations I presented my own credit union for financing from the get go. I wonder if let them “screw” me with their financing if I’d be able to get any more off MSRP and do as you say, refinance later on.
Last time I went in I think I was around 9% off. I’m giving up a truck I still very much love so the deal needs to be right for me to pull the trigger.

Interesting idea! It used to be always pay cash for the best deal but now the dealers seem to be moving into the finance side for a lucrative revenue stream.

Would this be true in Canada? Isn't there usually a fee to apply for credit with them?

I know nothing about financing in Canada. Not sure about the fee in Canada, but in the US, if I've already got a deal I like that I negotiated before I come in (I negotiated over email or phone), I won't let them pull my credit without taking more off the sale. They'll stay, "we'll do that if you finance with us", but I make them do it just to have the privilege to offer me financing. Sometimes they say no, if they know they would only offer you a garbage rate.

I've read that some states allow for loans with prepayment penalties. I've never seen one first hand, but that would change the situation.

FWIW, bringing your own financing is the same thing as being a cash buyer, in the eyes of the dealer. They know they aren't making anything other than the sales price, and whatever they can add on at the end. I always come with my own financing, or at least know what rates are from my credit union, but it's usually beneficial to sound open to their options. 9% off sounds great either way...

Stopped in at a local dealership today and asked about the AG TRD Pro sitting on the lot. They gave me a $3k off sticker quote. I was shocked to see any money come off an army green model. Thoughts? We weren't looking to trade, but love the color and the rarity. After he quoted the 3k off, he gave me a great trade in quote on our '18 SR5P.

If it's only about the color, you can have any car painted any color you want. Probably cheaper too, considering taxes and all that.

Every aftermarket paint job I've gotten has been garbage. And these weren't Earl Scheib jobs, either. From now on when a vehicle needs paint, I get a new vehicle.

Seeing lots of 2020's below MSRP by $2-3k in the southeast, but having multiple dealers giving me the "demand is going to increase in the coming weeks" talk. I don't really buy into that from an economic perspective.

I'm looking to buy into a 5th gen coming from a 2006 Land Cruiser. If anybody wants to trade, I've got the difference in cash.

44k out the door in Cobb County, GA for a 2020 Blue ORP with KDSS is what I was told the "all in" price was, as a reference point for others.

The chatter everywhere is how it's all going to bounce back in some super V-shaped recovery. Meanwhile, we've got 50 million newly unemployed. There's a lot of BS going on out there.

Yeah I don't understand the "paint it yourself" argument. Who in the right mind would paint a $45k vehicle to start with?

Who would sell a $45k vehicle, to buy the same $45k vehicle, for a loss, just because it's a different color? That was my point. It's an awful lot of money for a paint color change.

I'm not against anyone buying as many 4Rs as they want, for any reason they want. I just think it's intellectually dishonest to pretend it's a good financial decision.

Hi guys. I've got 2020 4runner trd pro for 4300$ off MSRP. That was a price quoted online with no negotiation. Delalership: Performance Toyota, PA. Its strange to promote a dealership but those guys are really doing a great job, most of the buying process was online and doc signing and car pickup took maybe 45 mins in person. Not sure how old-style dealerships can compete.

Nice, what color?

I've traded same year vehicles for color. Buy low, sell high. Most dealers around here hate me. I've walked many of times and only one did not call back...take your time, deals are there and they are still hosing us

Got a TRD Pro Gray at $3,300 below MSRP. $300 processing fee plus tax tags. Thoughts? I may pass this up so contact me if intrested

Bought today. 8% off MSRP. Not a lot of inventory here for TRD ORP. I probably could have gotten a few hundred dollars off of this deal either at this dealership or a different dealership but I just wanted to get the deal done get home.

Been trying my luck at other places and haven't had any luck so far in the Northeast region. Not a lot of new cars coming in from Japan due to the virus unsurprisingly according to the dealerships. Been asking 10-11% off MSRP on an SR5 premium, doesn't seem like it's too much of an ask judging by what other people are getting, so what gives? Is it simply just the low volume of cars available?

Lots of places haven't even bothered counter offering.

Few? Try none. Tahara has been shutdown for months.

If you just want it for the color, you can wait for the 2021 4runner Trail Editions based off the SR5 that will be in Army Green, Cement, Super White and Midnight Black. I dont think pricing has been announced yet, but you would most likely save a pretty penny compared to the TRD Pro.

I didn't realize those trails would come in AG. I knew about the cement though, maybe that'll be an option. Thanks
