You'll likely have to go out of state, likely WAY far from the west coast with hopes to go much below MSRP.
I'm dumbfounded by what people are paying for 4runners right now. We paid $38,250 (MSRP $43,839) for a 2020 ORP Premium in late July in Kansas City and my wife I were prepared walk out over $250. Little did we know most people would be paying within $1,500 of MSRP starting around mid August.
These trucks are nice, but to be paying $40K+ for one considering the general lack of features and refinement compared to the competition seems a bit crazy to me. Toyota is laughing all the way to the bank with us considering this truck has largely been unchanged for the last 11 years. They got their return on investment a long time ago. It's all gravy now.

Didn’t buy a 4Runner, but a new Tacoma TRD OR. I’m also in So Cal and couldn’t find any deals anywhere. Bought the Tacoma from Alexander Toyota in Yuma. They gave me a great deal $2500 off sticker plus the rebate, treated us good. They collected all the sales tax, etc and have a place to stop on the way back to do CA smog and VIN verification. Overall a good experience.
Ive been lightly looking for the last couple of months but my search just got serious these past 2 weeks. Was just told today that...
1. COVID completely annihilated the production and inventory of 4 runners and tacomas. Im not too sure how true the tacoma thing is because I walk my dog at a park thats a port for incoming new vehicles and they always have a TON of tacomas in their staging area.
2. That they are currently ineligible for COSTCO auto buying discounts.
3. Its going to be at least a year before things calm down and pricing becomes more reasonable.

The ORP are eligible for Costco auto buying discounts - log onto the Costco website and type in your info and see for yourself; you'll have a dealer POC reaching out within hours. The Venture and TRD Pro were not offered in Costco pricing, but I received Costco quotes from multiples states in the past month
Either thats false or it depends on the region.
my local Costco auto program (Socal) dealership sent me their exclusion list and all NEW 4 runners are excluded from any discounts.

Ah, ok - must be regional, apologies. I had Costco offers around 9% off MSRP in PA, CT, VA and MD. Purchased in Maryland, and then drove to California this week.

I just confirmed its regional depending on county.
San Diego County is not honoring the Costco pricing but LA County is. I believe riverside does too but I havent seen pricing just yet.
Best offer ive gotten so far is 40k flat after costco discount and rebate before TTL for a 2021 SR5 4x4 Premium
Base non premium SR5 4x4s are at 38-39k before TTL but no local costco partnered dealership has them in stock.

MSRP - $44,400 (Dumb port extras brings it to $45,560)
The lowest they will do right now is $39,500 before taxes/fees. I was trying for $38k because of the port and dealer add-ons where it would be nullified at that price, but that is where we are at currently. The issue I'm having is the low ball trade in value of my current vehicle, but so far if they can give me better trade in, does the price sound okay? Thanks!

Hey guys, I am currently looking to purchase a 4Runner TRD Pro. I have a Taco right now, but I prefer SUVs. I wanted a lunar rock and its seems like everyone in about 500 mile radius is sold out or asking outrageous price for it. So the dealership down the street offered me MSRP for MGM $51715 plus $1466 dealer option including trail rail and cargo cover and that protection package...
They also offered $35000 (I purchased it at 36000 plus taxes and fees a year ago) for my 2020 Taco O/R plus tax credit. So OTD for MGM Pro, it was at $55134.
Another dealership offered $32500 for it so I took that number to the dealership across town and they gave me $35000.
What do y'all think??

$52K sounds like TX prices. Go somewhere else.
Get the color you want, don't settle. No way I'd pay MSRP for a Pro that wasn't a specialty color. Also, that Tacoma is in very high demand right now. Look on Carvana and Vroom for offers to purchase. They'll come pick it up.
Thank you. I think I’m gonna have to tell the salesman no. Caravana offered about 33k and vroom offered 31k. Which was the reason why I was about to take the 35k offer. But I feel like I’d regret not getting the lunar rock. Thank you!

I've noticed that all the tint, protection, and nitrogen packages always add up to 1500 plus of total trash that you didn't ask for and don't need and it's debatable they actually do anything.
