Base 2WD SR5?
Anyone bought a new 2020 or 2021 Base Model 2WD SR5?
Wife's Civic was just totaled when someone rear-ended her a couple of weeks ago, and, since she's pregnant, we've decided to go ahead and upgrade to a 4Runner.
I have a 2007 PreRunner that I've owned since new, and put over 234,000 miles on, so I'm very familiar with the indestructibility of this 1GR-FE/A750E powertrain combo, and that's one of the main reason we've decided to buy a 4Runner, and we're afraid Toyota will stop putting the 4.0 in these and start using the relatively gutless 3.5 from the current Tacoma.
Anyway, happy to be a new forum member, and look forward to her getting a new 4Runner!
Just wondering if anyone's recently bought a Base 2WD SR5, and what kind of deal you got, if willing to share.
The 2020 starts at $36,120, and the 2021 starts at $36,340, but most of the ones I've seen are listed at higher than that.
I've only emailed a couple of dealerships, and the one response I've gotten so far, the discount was about 4.5% off MSRP, before the $500 "Keep It Wild" discount. Not a great deal, by any means.

New member here. Thanks everyone for the info. I was able to get a SR5 Premium 4WD with moonroof and black out plus package for $41,750 OTD in TX. Hopefully that's a fair deal.
What was the pre-tax/title cost

I would love some insight on how you were able to land at $40,299 before TTL. Shopping hard for a venture and hope to pull the trigger on one before the year is up. I havent bought a new car in ages.

Well I ended up negotiating for a 2021 limited 4x4 out the door for $45,000 that’s the equivalent of 13% off MSRP. I feel pretty good about that deal.

$36,340 + 3rd Row Seat @ $805 + $1175 delivery fee - $500 "Keep It Wild" savings...
= $37,820.00 before any discount

Same deal here--mine is at Port now w/scheduled delivery date of Jan. 11. I felt lucky to get TRD Pro for MSRP after reading some of the stories of markup in other locales.

Decided to purchase a 2021 here in SOCAL and was not impressed with my recent dealership interactions. The only movement dealers were willing to make were $1000 off MSRP, which is the basic toyotathon rebate.
Any known good dealers here in the local LA area? I know a few I would not recommend.

I was able to get $2800 off MSRP at Tustin in OC for a 21 ORP W/KDSS
Deal with Leo in Internet Sales. No added bullshit. Smooth and easy transaction.

West Coast Toyota in Long Beach. I dealt with Derrick. He matched Nico’s price who is at Manhattan Beach Toyota who was very helpful. Nico was originally quoting me the best price but the vehicle was still en route. Derrick had it in stock. Would recommend both.

Hey all - new 4Runner owner here. Been eyeing them for the last 5-6 years and knew it would be a likely candidate for my next vehicle. New full size pickup prices helped lock in that decision quickly. Purchased a new 2021 TRD Off Road in Silver a couple of days ago and here was the breakdown:

Was originally looking for a TRD ORP simply for the Softex seats in MGM or Silver but absolutely did not want the moonroof. Apparently every Southeast U.S. TRD ORP had the moonroof (checked numerous dealers in NC and SC) and someone on the 4runner reddit turned me on to Katzkin. Opted for buying the basic TRD OR instead of ORP as the Katzkins would likely be about $400-500 cheaper than the Softex all said and done. Was planning on buying outright, but they said I had to use Toyota financing to qualify for the rebates, so I went with $25k down and will just pay the rest off shortly.
I probably could have haggled a bit more, but in all honesty walking out the door at $35k for a 4Runner I know I'll be driving for likely the next 10 years and then handing down to my son was much better than I anticipated, especially still being in new pickup sticker shock mode. In/out of dealership in about three hours, sales lady was awesome, and overall had a great experience. I opted out of all of the additional warranty options, as I've generally been burned by those in the past. Anything I should have reconsidered? This will generally be a daily driver with about 12k miles per year on 55/60mph country roads - no major off roading plans, but wanted the baseline package for occasional sand/mud/runoff driving I tend to do for work.
