Did I ever say anything say anything about tax policy? That's an entirely separate issue. It is monetary policy that is creating massive inflation. There are several fixes - pick any one of them.

At the rate we're heading, anyone with the title to a drivable vehicle is going to be worth seven figures.
 
$41,000 plus 500 tax, 249 wheel lock, 125 usb. Sr5 2wd, white, predator package, all weather floor mats, and window tint included. They also gave us $39,000 trade in on our 2020 Hyundai Palisade, 22,500 miles on it. Paid 39k for it new 14 months ago. Financed 21k.

Got an update email from my salesman today. My TRD ORP will arrive with a $2000 "market adjustment". Debating on eating it, or walking away. I'd like to walk away, but I know they'll refund my deposit and then have it sold before the refund even hits my account. And then I am back in line waiting on another.

I hate it, but I've seen a LOT worse than $2000.
 
I didn’t realize how bad the market is right now until we went checking out cars the other day. They have a new TRD Pro listed for $70k, that’s absolutely ridiculous. I looked up the trade in for mine and it’s not much less than I paid for it almost 7 years ago. Definitely not the right time to buy a vehicle.

How badly do you need the truck right now? I'd wait it out.
 
Picked mine up today. Dealers here are MSRP. There isn’t one new one on a lot I believe within the city and neighboring cities.

SR5 with the 3rd row. Paid 43k and some change I believe.
 
41 with the predator isn’t horrible, that added 3k to the total. Car lots in my area are getting that for 2wd 19s with 35k miles. Prices are insane
 
I ended up having to go 5k above msrp for my 21 pro in Lunar rock. It’s a bad deal but with other dealers in the area asking 10-20k above msrp I bit the bullet. It’s my dream suv and I really wanted to be the 1st owner and in the color I want to hopefully pass on to my son or daughter one day.
 
Settled on $49k out the door for a new 4WD, moonroof Venture. Sadly no KDSS.

I really wanted a Limited and I'm still angry at the dealership that had my hopes up for their phantom car that I had a deposit on. The only other Limited I could find was one they wanted $60k out the door for and wouldn't budge on price. Still overpaid in this bad market but I could have done worse. Wanted to wait but I really needed a car.

Here in Northern VA, everyone is asking at least 5K over MSRP, some models like the TRD Pro and Offroad are asking 10K over. People still buy them, the market is insane right now and i think it'll be like that until next year. If corona shuts down the economy again, the chip shortage will extend into 2023.
