How much are people paying for the NEW 4Runner?

I am a new member here on T4R and as such I can't post new threads yet but I did want to let you all know that my Toyota dealer today accepted a deposit for an order of a 2022 4Runner TRD Pro. I am 100% certain it's a 2022 so it appears the order books are open.

However, there are no details whatsoever on the 2022's yet. No pictures, colors, pricing, specs, options, etc., so I'm effectively gambling that Toyota will make the 2021 build I spec'd out as a 2022 model. Dealer advised it will be MSRP + typical doc fees. My dealer was unable to obtain a 2021 model in the Boston, Massachusetts market (which is actually all of New England) that matched the spec I want, so I'll probably be among the first with a 2022.

I have another related question.

Is it a good idea to buy 2021 T4R OR (not ORP) right now for $43k or wait for 2022 models? I want a Lunar Rock and hoping 2022 OR trim might offer it.

At this point in time, I don't know why anyone would buy a 2021 unless you specifically want a lunar rock PRO. The 2022's will be on the lots very soon and will have an updated safety sense suite with full LEDs, high and low beams. You'll also be able to get lunar rock and army green in an off road and be able to throw on grill, wheels and tires and skid plate and have a quasi lunar rock or army green PRO. The only reason to buy an end of year model is because of financial incentives but those are non existent this year. Most dealers are charging over MSRP. If you have to pay MSRP, why not wait and get the 2022??

Took delivery of my 2021 TRD ORP yesterday from Checkered Flag Toyota in Va Beach, VA. Final sales price of the 4Runner itself, without taxes, fess, etc, was $47,173.

I figured if the dealer didn't have any details then why bother? I'm glad to hear some details though. Sounds good.

I chose Black. I wish they'd offer a bright red one but I'm guessing I'm in the minority on that.

Paid $43,500 for a non kdss ORP model that's supposed to be in this week. Had another dealer down to 42,900 on same trim and package model but would have had to put a deposit down and wait a month+

Toyota updates their dealers on this side of the pond every Monday. I was told as of yesterday they have officially started production of the 2022 models in the Tahara plant. I also have a deposit down and am now playing the waiting game.

I am assuming the standard deposits are $1k and fully refundable. What about price. Given the fact at the right dealership, 4Runners are still going for MSRP (or maybe a hair under), I would imagine a 2022 fresh off the boat would be a good deal at MSRP.

I received confirmation from my dealer today that the ORP I requested will actually be a 2022 model and begin build on August 20 and be ready at the dealership by mid to late September, but I live in Portland where vehicles are received.

Every store in Orange County came back and said they are not taking orders on the 2022s yet. Do they just not want a simple sale or are orders only available in certain markets? The latter doesn't make sense but I'm perplexed why 9 dealerships failed to say "yes, let's talk." We didn't even get into pricing...

Yeah I had a guy take my order on a motorcycle that couldn’t be ordered for 6 months. They’ll say anything right now. I only know because an honest dealer explained how desperate everyone is to hook a sale down the road.

Took delivery yesterday of a 2021 ORP at msrp. Placed the “order” on 6/24 and it was here on 8/16. Got exactly what I asked for and no extra nonsense. Seems crazy to buy this late in the model but my dealer was pretty confident that we won’t see a 2022 until December or early next year.

Bird in the hand and all that, I have been on the phone with dealers from Kansas, Nebraska, Oklahoma, Texas, Lousiana since June and not one of them had a PRO or ORP that I could put my name on. Worse still, some shady stuff like we have one in stock come now, oh it just sold in the 20 minutes it took for you to drive over here, and, ahem, we are adding $2500 to ORPs and $5000 to PROs because everyone is doing it.

Also, for what it’s worth, I don’t care for the cross traffic part of the safety suite on the 2022. Have it on my Camry and bumped it, didn’t damage the bumper cover but did scratch the paint, now the sensor is misaligned or can’t sense through the scratched paint and it will be over $1,000 to fix. 4Runners get bumped…it will be interesting to see how they protect those sensors on the 4Runner.

I have a dealer that is offering just over 5.6% off Msrp for a 2021 ORP no sunroof no other options. Going to see if I can get anymore but I think that is the best I will get for the time. Truck will be here at the end of the month, southeast region.

2022 Lunar Rock TRD ORP w/kdss for $48k + TTL
2021 Gray Venture w/kdss for $48k + TTL
2022 Lime Rush TRD PRO for $62k + TTL (yeah, lol)
2021 Gray TRD ORP w/kdss for $48k + TTL
2022 Army Green TRD ORP without KDSS for $46k + TTL

Just an FYI out there... midwest dealers are quoting on-the-lot availability in October for 2022 models, including the lime one. That Lunar Rock is tempting. All prices are MSRP with no discounts, except for the typical PRO markup.
