How much are people paying for the NEW 4Runner?

Hi. I just bought mine from Gatorland Toyota (Gainesville, FL). I jumped on it when another buyer backed out of a pre-sold unit. TRD ORP in Lunar Rock. MSRP was 53k. Came out the door at around 59k. There was about a 4k mark up, but they tried to make you feel better with overcharged "accessories." Floor mats, tinted front windows, phone chargers, etc. I looked all over the southeast and found some good deals here and there but I would have had to fly and then travel back. Ultimately I wanted a TRD variant in Lunar Rock and I got it so I decided to live with it.

I will say that the local dealer here was charging 7.5k markup on a Lunar Rock Trail Edition that would have made it almost as much as the ORP I ended up getting.

2021 to 2022

I bought a 21 sr5 premium back in Oct 2020 for about 10% off MSRP, the good ole days. Out the door for 41k. Now i sold that with 10k miles to carmax for 45k.

I wanted the 22 for some of the safety stuff, better headlights etc, but basically swapped from a 21 to a 22 for $2500.

I did find dealers marking up 3 grand, both dealers came down on price, the first one within 5 mins, down to 1k over sticker, the other to 500 over sticker. I gotta drive 5 hrs but it was the exact one I wanted and there were NONE in my area.

I just replaced my '08 V8 Sport Limited with a 2017 SR5 Premium 4WD. We don't do anything that necessitates a special trim, but this one has nice leather, and heated front seats. It has 58K miles on it and we paid $39K. Not sure if we got a good deal, but they wouldn't budge, and there was nothing else like it for that price and mileage around our area.

4 Runner Sport

I just lease/purchased a 2019 Sport for my wife. In the States around NJ dealers are asking an average of MSRP +$3K and a high of $5.5K. The main problem is finding them.

We got it at MSRP but there were $1400 of required extras mostly of value to me.

Hard to figure who decides the options at Toyota $R and the erratic way they include or don't include creature comfort or safety options.

It will be interesting to see what happens to 6Th generation so many conflict stories.

Errors in eBrochure for $R

For those interested I found some brochure spec errors in the Sport package.

Brochure states the technology options has BSM & RCTA

That’s incorrect BSM is different and RCTA needs sensors in the rear bumper which we have never seen on a Sport – we have them on our Rav4.

The Limited has sensors in the rear bumper and so can have RCTA but I think they lumped it under the feature "front and rear parking assist sonar."

It's actually an important issue, pedestrian detect in front is not an especially useful feature since you (should) be able to see them – idiot pedestrians crossing behind a reversing vehicle is something to be guarded against!

One salesman told me that the Sport rear view camera would detect a vehicle or cart behind a vehicle, but not pedestrians!

It all seems to be a bit of a mess.

Yeah I gave up a great deal I was getting in VA that could have seen me with the same vehicle minus the XP package out the door at 51k. But job situation was different at that time than it is now. I ultimately paid extra for the exact vehicle I wanted so I was willing to pay a little extra. At leasts its a 4Runner and the value wont go down too much.

Damn, I know the markups are crazy right now but just wow.

I was just hit in my rear end by a guy that ran a red light as I was making a protected left turn. He admitted it so no insurance concerns.

My 2015 TEP is my favorite vehicle after all the upgrades I have added.

I was thinking what would I do if it was considered a total loss. Not very likely but a small possibility.

The price increases and unavailability of obtaining a new one would be a huge PITA in SoCal.

I miss my 4Runner and can wait 2 more weeks until it is fixed properly and keep it forever.

The repair costs will be the responsibility of the other driver's insurance but in situations like this I've typically reached out to my insurance agent for advice. They're experts in the industry and might have guidance on how you can argue with the other driver's insurance for something (diminished value? etc) that would help cover the gap between repair cost and true replacement value.

not sure of the safety features added but headlights I believe all 22 models now have LED high & low vs 20-21? trd/limited having high/low and all others LED low with halogen high.

Installed the 21 headlights on my 17 sr5 prem/pro it was a simple swap, just a pin change configuration

love them and a good difference in light out put from the halogen. Yes pin swap is straight forward and there is a DIY video in a forum on here about the lights. One of the better mods I've. done to the 4runner.
I helped a member pick up a pair for about $400 shipped with the LED fog lights. Found it on facebook market and sent the member a link to it.

For anyone in California interested to know, I wanted to share an updated list of dealer markups as of January 2022. In general, SoCal dealers still appear to be the biggest offenders...

Wondries Toyota (Alhambra) - $10,000 markup
Thousand Oaks Toyota - $7,500 markup
West Coast Toyota (Long Beach) - $7,500 markup
Envision Norwalk Toyota - $5,000 markup
Santa Maria Toyota - $5,000 markup
John Elway Crown Toyota (Ontario) - Will not sell to you unless you're "in their area"

The good news is many dealers in NorCal are starting to relax or remove their markups... Although, the problem is waitlists are still quite long for a 2022 TRD OR / ORP (4-6+ months) or TRD Pro (6-12+ months).

Also, for CA residents, I recently learned Toyota dealers North of San Luis Obispo, CA are not receiving TRD ORP 4Runners with the Premium PLUS Package with Multi Terrain Monitor (package code "PO"). This is an issue for me because that's the only way you can get Multi Terrain Monitor (birds eye camera view) on a TRD Offroad. At this point, I think I'll be removing my name from all the NorCal dealer waitlists.

You can get a ORP for about sticker price but the Pros are still having mark ups. They wanted 15k mark up for my ORP [emoji58] ended up getting it at sticker just about at Carson Toyota

Good to know. After some back and forth, the best offer I could get from any of the dealers I mentioned was still $4k-$5k above sticker for the colors I wanted. I'll give Carson Toyota a try to see if/when they can get the truck I want at a decent price.

Since the new year, we're starting to see marked-up 4Runners sitting longer on dealer lots. I've also had a couple dealers follow up within the past week saying their managers are now willing to be more flexible with their mark-ups. We'll see...

21 Venture paid full sticker but no dealers markup. sticker was 47,127 but they gave me more trade in on my 19 f150 than I originally paid for it. Had to take advantage of the crazy used market.

I am kind of in the same boat. with 2019 F150 . What did they give you for your F150?
