How much are people paying for the NEW 4Runner?

Good to know. After some back and forth, the best offer I could get from any of the dealers I mentioned was still $4k-$5k above sticker for the colors I wanted. I'll give Carson Toyota a try to see if/when they can get the truck I want at a decent price.

Since the new year, we're starting to see marked-up 4Runners sitting longer on dealer lots. I've also had a couple dealers follow up within the past week saying their managers are now willing to be more flexible with their mark-ups. We'll see...

I've seen A LOT of lime rush Pros sitting on dealer lots. You never saw specialty color Pros sitting around in these numbers. Must be a combination of the crazy markups and the hideous color.

This is interesting. I remember when the pandemic started there were AG Pro's sitting on lots EVERYWHERE! A buddy of mine who is a sales manager at a local dealer offered me one for about $2500+ off msrp, but I passed. I should have bought it and sold it a year later for a nice profit but at the time everyone was a little trigger shy because of the unknowns. That same buddy of mine just bought a lime rush for himself and can't keep anything on his lot.

voodoo blue consistently ranks at the bottom of the spectrum in pro specific colors, so you're in good company....sport

It appears that way. All about the marketing. Dealerships are laughing all the way to the bank.

They are. A dad on my daughters volleyball team is a GM for a local dealer. He worked at BMW prior to 2020, then Audi for a year, and now Buick of all places?! His job is highly sought after thus he can bounce where the money is.

According to him, dealers haven't been suffering since late 2020. Though new inventory has remained terrible for about a year, the amount of money they're making on new cars (mark ups) and used cars has offset the sales volume. Historically, used cars have typically made dealers the most money. The same still holds true and most new car dealers have become mostly used car dealers.

He can't believe what people are willing to pay for used cars and new Buicks. I tell him he's evil

Freight Fee vs Delivery/handling/Processing fee

I am in market for new 4runner. Dealer in VA agreed to help with order with 3-4 months wait time.

Here is fee over MSRP;
Processing Fee: $789
Sales Tax (MD): $2,736
Freight: $1,495
DMV Fees (MD): $323

When asked about freight fee vs delivery fee included in MSRP... received following reply. "Toyota does charge a delivery, processing and handling fee to transport the vehicle from the factory to the port. Freight is a completely separate fee."

Is it normal to pay freight fee for 4runners? or it is just a markup in the name of freight fee.

Unless they're shipping the car to your house, there's no such thing as a freight fee.

Wondering if anyone has tried using the Costco auto buying service recently. That's how I bought my 2019 and I believe I saved a couple thousand off MSRP. Not sure if that's even an option with inventories and demand being what they are.

I checked their websites and it wasn’t an option.

I happened to stop by the Toyota dealer in Livermore CA and they had this hideous lime green TRD Pro for $69,602! The MSRP was $54,607 and the dealer markup was $14,995. For that kind of markup I would just buy one from another state and have it shipped. It would be a whole lot cheaper than that.

I just leased a TRD Sport for my wife, she will not off road (intentionally) but liked the look of it and hated the headroom reduction of moonroof on the Limited.
I paid MSRP, plus had to pay for undercoat and excess wear protection - the latter is a great deal about $800 for $5K of repairs including tires or paint.

This dealer was in NY, we live in NJ where the average addon is $3K to $5.5K that is if you can even find what you want.

Don't believe custom orders at least in the NE - they are all on allocation, its driven by sales volume and days on the lot. Not what the dealer is asking for and for sure not the customer would like.

Just for information, the eBrochure for the Sport has lots of errors about what is and is not included.

And; the product manager that created a lovely vehicle (Sport) and excluded even the option of heated seats and dual zone AC needs to go back to school. IMHO

Dang, it has Softex seats without heaters? I think the dual zone climate control is still exclusive to the Limited and Pro trims. If it wasn't a lease you could retrofit it using the write-up from Old Red.

I have used Costco here in NJ before and were happy with them, but it was a long time ago. In May of '21 I contacted them when looking to buy my ORP. I was contacted once by a dealership in Brooklyn and never heard from anyone again, very disappointed in the complete lack of service. Ended up getting my 21 ORP from local dealer as it was afloat on the ship into Newark.

Just bought my 2022 TRD ORP in Army Green for $44,808. Looked for weeks and finally found a Army Green with mostly what I wanted (no KDSS which sucks) but I could only get $500 of MSRP. Very frustrating but I was just tired of banging on dealers for weeks trying to get close to invoice. I gave up.

Personally I think you got a great price from what I'm seeing here in CA. I was ready to buy a new white TRD ORP, in that price range but the mark-ups are stupid high.

Some dealers are going crazy on markup...

Man I thought the Bay Area was gouging? If you want, you can call the Toyota HQ Customer Service 800-331-4331 and complain about price gouging. It may have an affect. I wonder what would happen if every member on this forum called and complain? There is strength in numbers. Just saying.

I wanted the blind spot mostly, do a ton of highway driving. The rear cross was a added perk and the high beams being led now but mostly wanted blind spot. Otherwise I think they are the same
