How much are people paying for the NEW 4Runner?

In response to an earlier comment, Putin did not invade Ukraine because of oil. Putin invaded for a number of reasons. One of the reasons that does not get talked about much in Western media is his mental conditioning by the former Soviet regime and KGB. He is absolutely conditioned (programmed in a sense) to be suspicious of every Western move and to look at it from the angle of "how does the west's move of doing 'x' antagonistic toward Russia." We immigrated from the Soviet Union (miraculous story since we are not Jewish) and, whether Putin knows it or not, he is conditioned to be suspicious, even paranoid, of the West. I think we all can objectively agree that no member of NATO, or NATO itself, had plans for a military offensive against Russia in the future. If it was not evident then, it is now. We won't even step in to stop the humanitarian crisis in Ukraine. The west does not want military conflict.

Again, there are a number of reasons Putin went in to Ukraine. And it seems like he is fighting this war the old Soviet way. He has not studied history and is repeating it. Or perhaps, he has only studied history the way Soviets taught it. Which was all propaganda. If I told you what they taught (and did not teach) you would be shocked. I can confirm that, at least as of 20 years ago, the holocaust was not taught in Russia and most people did not know of it. And that is 10 years removed from the collapse of the Iron Curtain.

EDIT: I forgot to include the reason for my post lol. I have a 4Runner TRD ORP on order with KDSS at MSRP. I am waiting for a Lunar Rock. The Long Beach port here is backed up so it may be a while. I think this is a good thing because it will allow me to monitor the gas situation. I will cancel if prices get to high. I am predicting $9 for Los Angeles before the end of the year.

Close to putting a deposit on a 2022 TRD OR Lunar - due march 15th.

MSRP with "options" and wild discount is $44432. They have a dealer "package" that is added on at 900 that includes tint and a flashing tail light... not sure what else, but those are the highlights. Seems "OK" deal but would really like that dealer package skipped. Anyone having luck getting that left off? Feels like markup over MSRP to me with trivial things included so they can say no, it was for XYZ.

Already had them drop the XP Predator package @ 3399, but so far they wont drop the skid plate or safe. Have another call in the AM to see if we can iron out these differences of option. I feel like if I push too hard or threaten to walk he would just wave with the current market.

Hi Guys, long story short, but someone else put a deposit on the 4Runner above without any changes…. So that was off the table at the time. A few days later I put a deposit on the verbal deal at a different dealer. Fast forward to last allocation, and the dealer I put a deposit was giving me a bit of radio silence… a few days later, the original dealer ( from 1st post) calls me back to tell me the other buyer backed out and it’s available again. I told them they know what I want and let me know ( I still had my second deposit in place, so no real rush). A few days go by and I hear nothing. I text the sales guy to see if they forgot about me. A little while later the new car manager calls me and we walk through how I want it configured and they would attempt to change it as it was still in port and had not been taken in for work. He removed the xp package, the safe and skid plate, added pred bars, clear paint protection and a few other things. He sent me a screen shot that looks like it is from legit dealer configuration software as well to make sure it was good. I asked him to work on the trade a bit because of the extra 900 protection pack they add - window tint, flashing brake light, and “accident trade in value gap insurance”. Finally put a deposit on it, 250 refundable. I get a text 2 hours later that the changes were accepted by Toyota and we should be good to go. It’s due Wednesday this week so we will see if the idea of port changes hold water!

The deal: 2022 lunar rock off-road NOT Prem.
Base MSRP with options from Toyota site - $45,032.
Dealer adds - $900 for their package - tint, brake light, insurance
Doc fee and reg fee - $680
So $46,600 before tax and title . I think OTD price isn’t fair comparison since states are all different.
They gave me $36450 trade for my 19’ SR5 4x4 with under 26000 miles (via email and pics). This was 450 over the other dealers offer so that helped me stomach the $900 dealer package. I guess we will see how it all goes when I go to get it.
I haven't signed anything, so would guys try to negotiate a little more off, or let it go as long as they stick to all the details to this point..

We do not have any reason to believe the rate of increase won't slow down. There would have to be a second event for there to be another sharp spike.

Sounds like a great price for one that's in good shape. I had been looking at 4th Gens initially a few years back. Even three years ago, they were running around that price. But with the insane price used cars go for now, am very surprised to see you find one for no more than what I had been seeing. Enjoy!

Yes I decided to buy it in New England.
The dealers in south west florida add about $2000 worth of cheese and things you get for free in new england - they charge for ----first 3 oil changes and tire rotation- they add$ 600 for that-------what? They also add a mkt adjustment between 5 and 10 k. Finally they told me it would be 6 months from a deposit before I see the 4runner.

In New England - most dealers will sell you one at MSRP, some will add 5k for a TRD PRO.

I bought mine from Bristol Toyota --- they are just over the line in Mass -

They sold this one at MSRP --- no options / add ons I did not want. ~75 days for delivery. They said it would be 90, but were able to pull one off allocation, which they are able to do on the 15th and 30th of every month. I sent them $1000 deposit and had a vin # about 50 days later. They can't get the vin until its off the ship. It took about 2 weeks from ship to dealer. It showed up with 1 mile....brilliant!

In summary they are nice people, but the hands offs between, sales, finance and the shop that prep the 4runner are really sloppy. I had to check in often, and follow up on the hand offs, because noting was translated or passed on without me calling to clarify and drive next steps......

example: the one thing I asked everybody in the chain was --- "no tire oil" during prep.....everybody said they had the ball. We walk outside and the sales guy is telling me how he hates it too and told them to not apply "tire oil" -he says "look there she is--- no tire oil" and then pauses and "says, oh man I am sorry"

They also force you to sign a release that allows them to sell your personal info..I refused to and they told me they would not release the car! Today I got 2 in-comming spams SiriusXM..........

So in summary....... good parts dept, decent service AMATEUR Biz operations and practices.

Here is the crazy part...... I feel like I got a decent deal, while sloppy they are nice people and quite honestly they suck way less than the boston dealers.

So I flew back from south west florida, jumped thru the chaos hoops, and its sitting in the garage at the cottage until I get back in spring.

They will give you a fixed price / quote on email and you can take that to another dealer if you think it helps.

One more thing. I went to the daytona 500 - Toyota had a huge presence.....offical pace car, 100 new tundras pulling the trams that get the 130000 people around. They had every model on display - including a magnetic gray TRD PRO! The factory rep said that the internal people get "read in" on the new launches in AUG, and the public gets the announcements in July. He did not know if there would be a re-do for 23, but said unofficially he expected there is one coming.

I wanted a 22....... not a re-do. Its not clear to me that they will be building the next version in japan, vs tx like the Tundra and Taco........so if you order now, you will probably have april build, and not have to worry about the overhangs if they announce a re-do. If the 23 is killer, I will buy a 24

Unfortunately, no. Dealers in my area said Toyota was only sending pre-configured vehicles in their allotments. The dealer we bought from called Toyota a couple times but never received a reply. Our life isn't really conducive for me to travel out of the area just to chase one down with a MTM installed. Oh well .

I totally get that------ I have not used it yet- brought it home and parked it - now back in south west florida. I will play with it when I get back to new england in the spring. To be fair, what I did see was functional, but the video quality was poor......grainy and low resolution.

It really does seem useful in certain situations, like tight parking spaces, but it was not the deal breaker getting KDSS was. Just wish it was a matter of adding cameras later, but assume the frame is not pre-wired for it, so probably not possible.

You have the priorities right --- KDDS matters! The camera thing- could be helpful, but my first reaction is that its a nice to have - vs. a "got to have it".
The video quality is weak, but will get a better feel for it when I get back in the spring.
There are a lot of BR(s) in south west florida, they really are stunning in the bright sun.
Well --- misbehaving has consequences!
