How much are people paying for the NEW 4Runner?

Of course it will. Markets are always shifting. Before long, car lots will be loaded with vehicles and dealers will be begging for sales. Things have already shifted.

For sure. I'm seeing things start to turn as well. Not just cars, but some other markets as well. My local Polaris/Can Am dealer had an empty lot for 2.5 years with every single machine that came in sold immediately (at least it seemed that way.) The last few weeks they have been posting sales with $ off new machines and another truck load coming.

My brother just got a 2017 Tundra TRD Pro for $3k or so below Blue Book value. It didn't have the factory Bilsteins anymore, so the dealer is getting him the updated Foxs and installing them for him or he was going to walk. It was sitting on the lot for 2 months.

Just looked at my 2 local Toyota dealers as well and I'm not seeing any market adjustments posted with new 4Runners anymore. Could totally still have them, but they were online as of a few months ago.

I think with the downturn of the market, inflation, etc. people are holding back or they bought what they wanted already over the last few years. People are sick of this sh*t.

The market is definitely shifting. I'm always watching the 4runner market and have noticed lately that prices are coming down, desirable used models are sitting on lots for weeks/months, and dealerships are reducing prices online. This was not even close to the case 6 months ago. There has been a Cavalry PRO sitting on a very reputable, high quality used lot near me for 3 weeks now. The car is in great shape, 1 owner and priced right. I'm amazed it hasn't moved. I think the higher interest rates are really affecting buyers at this point.

Well the new trd pro 4 runners and tundras are still having MA on them that I have seen and hard to get like always…

Why just this morning I was down at the dealer (Michael's Toyota Bellevue) getting a free oil change and 7 Pros available, both new and used.

They had markups, but one of the sales guys told me he'd be happy to take a lower offer to his manager.

I've been going to that dealer for 10 years and I've never seen more than 1-2 Pros on the lot.

Seven different colors. It’s going to be like the housing market now. Coupled with high inflation and a new 6th gen design with a hybrid option on its way the whole 5th gen market will soften.

I think you are right, but they're not giving up without a fight. I've been talking to a dealer that had a $1500 "market adjustment" three weeks ago. Last week they told me they were selling at MSRP, then when they gave me a customer price sheet the first item below MSRP was a $1000 "acquisition fee." When I questioned that the salesman said he'd talk to the general sales manager. He called me back and said he "went to bat" for me and they "made it happen" so everything is back to MSRP. Wow. What a guy.

Sometimes working with car salesmen is like petting a St. Bernard: it's fun at first, then you realize you're getting drool all over your hands and clothes and you need to take a shower...

All dealers have gotten themselves into a bad situation with used cars and pricing. Like buyers, they've all overpaid. Now they're sitting on vehicles that aren't selling because the prices are too high and buyers aren't interested and/or can't afford the vehicles. They will have to sell at loss soon. Their record profits will plummet. Same goes for every other business and manufacturer that have been pushing the increase in cost directly down to consumer all the while continuing to cash in on huge profits. Their day of reckoning is now here. You can't keep squeezing people. Yes, many people were flush with cash because of COVID, but inflation and insane costs for homes/cars/energy/food has wiped that out for most. People are cutting back now because they are seeing the impact of their bank accounts now.

New here. I’m. Loooking for a 4R . Prices r wild at that dealership in Bellevue. I think one of those 21 Pros was going for 79k. Lot was full of those pros and a few other trims.. Was looking at a 20 SR5 premium but it was almost the same price as a 23. I know this has been asked before, and I’ve gone deep back and gotten lost in this thread trying to read up, but wondering if anyone has advice. What’s the move/ where are things headed. Dealership guy said things are not gonna straighten out for a while, they aren’t gonna get any more new inventory and it’s all going to people who get on their lists. But Is it even worth buying used And How do you negotiate on one? I live in Seattle and most dealerships seem to be on the same tip, Lake city being the Worst with crazy markups.

Anyway, buy used marked up sr5 premium or buy new and wait plus pay more?

Any thoughts would be great. It’s cool to hear what other people’s experiences have been like.

Taking delivery of my 2023 ORP today - paying MSRP. Did not try to haggle. I am in NC.
I have offset most of the 4R cost by selling my FJ Cruiser a year ago - it was a 2013 Trail Teams with 25k miles. Bought it new and sold it for $6k more than I paid - not sure I will ever see that resale value again.

Dealership guy just wants you to overpay. I'd tell him to kick rocks. The lot is full for a reason. Look outside of Seattle and you can find one at MSRP now. The market is getting back to normal.

We bought ours from Michael's as well. It's crazy seeing the front lot still so bare compared to a few years back when they didn't have enough space.

I just bought my first 4Runner yesterday over in Bremerton, WA.
I paid MSRP minus $350 with a Costco Auto Program discount. I’ve used Costco in the past and have received discounts as high as $2000. I was pretty surprised that $350 was the discount. I verified this number with Costco while I was at the dealership.

I felt like no markup, in this current market was fair. I know it’ll get better soon with prices adjusting and demand going down, but it’s a catch 22; less demand equals lower prices or leveling of prices, but at the cost of higher interest. My personal opinion is a recession is inevitable and that affected my decision to buy now vs later. I have excellent credit and finances through Red Canoe Credit Union. Best rates in the state as far as my research was concerned and the dealership couldn’t beat it.

We are already in a recession. Three consecutive quarters of GDP contraction...

To your point about cost, there's no winning by waiting unless you can pay with cash.

Subaru seems to love it. It was too small for my use but I thought the Outback was a pretty decent vehicle other than the CVT tranny.

Probably because of the mpg numbers they can get with it. Maybe cost of manufacturing too. They are nice cars for sure. My FIL has a 2015? Outback Limited. Some of the best seats/leather I've sat in for that price range of car. Drives great (except the trans) and is super comfortable.

What happens to a dealer when a red hot market meets with sudden changes in demand due to a rise in interest rates. I feel bad for the ones who DIDN'T gouge people, but not for the ones that got a little greedy.

Nah, it's that I bought a 4Runner in July, so *of course* the prices are coming down now. :D :D :D

I'll let y'all know if I'm buying or selling stock so y'all can run the other way, fast...

Well, a touch under MSRP, interest rates stink but good money for my 17 TRD off-road. Pick it up in the morning, black on black on black KDSS :thumb:
