How much business is Shrockworks losing?

I planned on SW but I just cant hand that amount of money over then have to wait that long for results. I think Demello will be the one getting my business. And folks lets be realistic. They do make a great product but seriously, is it that much better than Demello, ARB, ect...? I have seen them and I just don't see that.

Justin, thanks for replying to this thread, but my question I have is:

If there is a 4-6 months lead time, why are there group buys happening?

I would think that a Group Buy would be used to by a vendor draw up some business during slow time frames, especially when there aren’t any backlogged orders waiting.

I e-mailed them a few months back about a bumper. But when I was quoted 3+ months and read all the threads I looked elsewhere. I still haven't made a purchase, but I know I won't be from shrockworks.

Group buys dont impact our sales enough to really make a difference in production times, or help out dollar wise enough for us to want to do it very often.

Simply put group buys keep our name fresh in peoples minds, and give the guys that are on the fence about making a purchase a reason to pull the trigger.

If you want a quality custom piece like a SW, you need to wait for it. If not, go buy something off the shelf. I get more compliments on this 4runner with the bumper than anything I've ever driven before (including a '12 Shelby GT500). It looks awesome. Quality is awesome. When I bought it, Demello was still working on prototypes so it was SW or ARB. That was easy for me, I think the ARB looks pretty awful compared to the SW.

They even shipped my bumper to Hawaii on the same pallet as the sliders to save me shipping $$$.

I can't speak about lead times or bumpers or anything but I do know this:

Shrockworks wanted $120 to ship a set of sliders from Houston to Austin (140 miles). For the record, CBI wanted something like $150. Effing Ridiculous.

Stubbs charged $50 to ship a set from California.

I'm also not so sure about Shrockworks pricing. Some of their stuff seems insanely overpriced.

I don't see an option for 4R Sliders on Stubb's page?
Was it custom built?

Long story short, we are always glad to have your feedback and unless the doors shut on this place(which is far from likely at this point) we will always be pushing to bring down our lead times and improve our customer satisfaction.

TxBxSx Here is some feedback :), I didn't really appreciate getting different quotes on a pair of sliders. I dismissed it but thought I would share since there is already a thread on the subject.

In a different post, you had quoted the forum a different price from what I had received and the difference was substantial. When I mentioned the quote on the forum, he said that's fine + shipping which wasn't in your post.

It's not really a MAJOR deal but it does drive away business to be inconsistent and giving the feeling of "am I even getting the right price"

:peep:

Lead times may stink... but I really appreciate and respect a business that can take criticisms, give feedback and not offer a whole lot of excuses. I am a member on another forum board. Two competing vendors with the same product. One vendor have a great product, but came across very arrogant. So I definitely appreciate the candor here by SW. If I'm in the market at somepoint I won't discount SW.

The reason our 4G 4Runner sliders cost so much to ship is due to their diminsional weight with our shipping companies. Just by a few cubic inches they jump in the largest oversize class the Fed Ex or UPS will even carry with without even counting the weight, the shipment is automatically hit with a $50 fee to ship it.

Now if our mouting brackets where smaller, like say a weld on set of sliders, the sliders would fall just under that oversize class and be about $50 cheaper to ship. But, we ONLY offer bolt on products.

I find this interesting. From a customer stand-point I am unwilling to wait 4-6 months for a product when they receive money up front. I expect to pay a deposit ONLY when work is started, and then 1-2 weeks from that point til completion. The only person I let string my money along like that is the government, and that is not by choice!
Glad I'm not the only one who felt this way. The last person I talked to locally who ordered from Shrockworks waited 8 months for his bumper. Long lead times are one thing, but when I have to give them 100% of the money up front then wait that long to see a finished product it sends me elsewhere. My ARB bumper was delivered within a week of me paying for it.

I am a business owner - so I can't expect to take people's money up front. On something like this w/ fabrication where the materials are needed beforehand- I understand the purpose BUT thats normally for a group buy type scenario and people putting a deposit down are normally getting a discount. That doesn't seem to be the case here at all, in fact a premium on price AND an up front cost with a long wait. Seems like a recipe for disaster. In other car forums I've been on, I have seen manufacturers/sponsors do this and in the end a bunch of people got screwed.

For parts that I have made I created a group buy but asked for no money up front until the parts were ready for shipping. This to me is the only logical thing when someone has been around and its not a new product they are developing. Just my .02

Yeah, if only they were that honest when dealing with actual customers who had paid money, they wouldn't have the reputationt they do.

As I said in the other thread, the delay may be excusable but the multiple lies and broken promises are not.

There is no "outside factor" that makes a person lie, that is a choice that the person makes.

If the builder says "we're working on it now, it will be done by the end of the week" and that's not true, the fact that they didn't get the material, have too many other orders, had a family emergency, etc, is irrelevant: The point is not that they delayed, the point is that they lied.

That's the issue.

I guess SW is doing great business, so obviously somebody must be happy with their products and services. Good on 'em, I guess, but they'll never see a penny from me. Ditto for Kennesaw Mountain or TAG or whatever they're calling themselves these days. You get a rep like they do, I don't care how good or cheap the product is, I'm not going to waste my time and money on it when there are other options available.

Saving money is nice but my time has value, too.

I had a bad experience with TAG. I looked into them but after dealing with the owner who basically draged me into an arguement by being a rude douche, and called me an *******, (not too far off but still) I would never recommend them. Demello on the other hand was awesome to deal with. I run a biz and know how customers can be a pain but some guys lack people skills and shouldnt talk to customers.

everybody is talking about how the lead times at SW suck and I'm just over here bolting up my CBI bumper 5 weeks after ordering

haha, it kills me to see people justify a company that lies constantly and gives customers the run around because "the product is great". Theres a shit load of other great products from companies who dont take group buys when they're already at 6 mo+ lead times. It must be because the name, bunch of sheep.

Patiently waiting. Fortunately I go out to sea a lot and don't even get to drive that much. I wouldn't have any complaints anyways since I don't plan on installing the bumper until I can lift my runner. Everybody is different though.
