How Much for my Pops 91 SR5???

My pop has a 91 4runner. It's a V6, auto, 4 door, factory spare tire rack, roof rack, over size wheels w/ 32's and plenty of room to flex. All power options. Rust in the usual areas such as front fenders, rear quarters, lower doors. Paint is faded and clear is pealing. Motor has over 211,xxx but runs like it's new. Very strong, peppy and sounds great. Pop installed flow-master duals. Front seats are torn and stains. A/C works but compressor is dying. Minor electrical issue such as rear window switch acts up (now motor and regulator installed in the spring), power mirrors don't work. Axle seems to be solid and so does the front A arms. I want to purchase it from him and he is asking me what is it worth. I don't want to steal it from him so what would one expect to pay for this year and condition? Just rough guesses...

If it belongs to your father then you should over pay. I would say about
3500. As to what it is worth from your discription no more then about 1800.

Here are the pictures. I hope this helps.

Front shot. My pop has a new lower under the bumper cowl for this and is ready to go on.

Driver side rear quarter rust area. Notice the 32's has plenty of space.

Motor is original and runs like new.

The factory spare tire carrier is @ my shop. My pop removed it because he wanted to sand it down and repaint it. Also looking for a bumper as this one didn't come with one to him. If I buy it I will most likely not install a bumper.

Flow-master duals. Expensive pipe too. Most likely will out last the life of the 4Runner.

I hope this helps. Again, I am trying to figure out what I should pay my pop. Here is how he came about getting it. It belonged to my younger sister. Her husband is a complete ******* and wrecked two of her new cars because of alcohol and drug DUI's. So she was not able to afford a third new car. So he bought a Jetta for her. It was a piece of ****. He found this for 300 bucks. The A/C didn't work, the rear window didn't work, and the passenger side window didn't work as well. My pop and I were into buying cars cheap, cleaning them up and minor maintenance and selling them on the side. Well it was about late May and my sisters husband went to jail for all his DUI's. My sister had a break down because of all the bills, Toyota crap and such. My pop and I had a nice 01 Explore we just picked up. So shorter version. Instead of me getting it for my wife because her Windstar was hit broad sided, I opted to allow my sister have it. My pop got the 4 Runner as a trade. So, my pop replace the exhaust and got the duals, bought the front under bumper cowl and I painted it flat black. Replace the rear window regulator/motor. I gave him the 32's off my Cj when I got 35's. I fixed the A/C and updated it to 134. It really runs great (like new I must say). LOL, I really shouldn't be building it up the way I am. We just dropped it off tonight to a buddy of mine to replace the belts, change the oil, and transfer gear oil, flush coolant and double check A/C compressor as it's making a chirping nose. I think it's the belt but we'll see...

Does the truck have headers or is it "true" duals after the cat.

Truck doesn't look bad. I stand by my original 2k estimate.

New Castle... :hello:

Cool. I'm down in Camden (just south of Dover), but you're up there with Bob and Zach both of them are in Newark, and both of them know a ton about our beloved T4R's. Maybe we can all catch up some weekend and do some wrenching, I know there's a few things I'd like to get done, and its good to have people around who know what their doing. Welcome again.

EDIT: BTW pop, as per the content of this thread, I found this listing on craigslist for a 91' here in Kent county thats for sale. Guys asking $3500. http://delaware.craigslist.org/cto/2502568169.html Maybe that'll give you an idea.

Thanks for the link and the wrenching sounds great. Done a lot of that with my Jeep buddies. Very good time...:bash::cheers::party::repuke:

LMAO

So its not a "true dual" then. So the mufflers wont do anything for performance, just nice to listen to.

That is correct, great tone. I wouldn't spend the money on adding headers because I wouldn't want to pay for high flow cats. One is bad enough but two!!!:wow:

Ok so blue book is $1765.00 in poor condition and $2265.00 in good condition.. rate it how you want and give him that.. I would say $1800.00 or $1900.00 tops.. and you should stop that cancer from spreading for sure.. rust is horrible..

I know they make fiberglass panels for the first gen, and you can probably at least get fiberglass front fenders for the 2nd gens. Not sure about other body pieces, but all of that stuff is expensive. The cheapest way to fix it would be to find someone who knows how to weld, then cut out the rusted areas and replace them with clean sheet metal. Then you can just paint everything. Or find a good donor vehicle/junkyard.
