How much lift fit 35's?

Newbie to the forum. Please take it easy on me.

How much lift (and who makes one) will i need in order to fit 35" tires on an 03 SR5 4x4? it is my wifes and she is ready for my to start "fixing it up a little." all i can find are leveling kits and i dont think that will be enough.

How much are you willing to cut?

There is nothing made above ~3" of lift, unless you use a bracket lift from a FJ, and even then the rear needs some custom work if you want any ride quality and as high as the front.

Or you could just go with a ome/coilover/spacer lift at ~3" and trim your fenderwells (very aggresively)

it takes a LOT to be able to smoothly get 35s on these trucks.
I believe one member here Alexjet and a few guys over at toyota120.com are doing it...... with extensive mods and serious trimming too..... it is impressive but I think for the work and money you'll put out you better use it!
Depending on your intended uses...... most people seem to be ok with 3" of lift and 33" tires..... id like to go bigger myself.... someday

Do you know whats differant with the rear from the FJ ?

All the aftermarket company's list same part # as fitting both.

You'll need a combination of a suspension lift (3") and body lift (1.5").

Places that will need modifications:
1. body mount will need to be cut/trimmed. This is located below the firewall (between the engine and cabin).
2. front bumper will need to be modified.
3. rear bumper will need to be modified.
4. depending on what kind of tires/wheel you decide on it may (highly likely) hit your rear door. You really can't cut your rear doors you you're kinda screwed there. This only happens rarely so I wouldn't stress there.
5. front fenders will need to be modified (if it hits - I'm not sure because I don't have stock fenders)

If you go w/ a bracket lift setup I don't think you'll have to worry about 1-5 as much. can't say for sure as I have no experience in em nor am I fond of em.

05Rrunner - Fj rear suspension is virtually the same so when you do that bracket lift you'll be fine.

Lastly note that 35" tires are super expensive. I bummed that it's getting more and more expensive. Anyway I won't say don't do it but do note the expense at doing it. These cuts/mods will make it "no so stock friendly" so keep that in mind if you plan to ever sell your 4runner. For me it was a no biggie. My truck won't be sold nor will anyone want to buy it now lol. If you want, I recommend just getting a simple OME 3" lift kit (available through various vendors) and get some 285's and call it a day. it'll be plenty for the trails and not kill your mpg. Don't forget regear if you go 35's. I haven't regeared but would want to... just can't afford it.

Um, if I had the money I'd buy your truck in a heartbeat!

To the OP, go with the 3", get wheel spacers, take off your mudflaps, trim your front bumper a little and slap some 285s on there. I am constantly amazed at where I can take my 4R with that setup.

thanks for all of your responses. i guess a 3" is the way to go. it seems to be pretty common from what i can find.

it seems as though the majority of 4runner owners are going with an OME setup. guess i will too!
