How much POR15 to order? Undercoating.

How much POR15 is it gonna take to undercoat my 4Runner? I really have no idea. And does anyone know if it chemically bonds with the rust or just needs the rough surface to grab? Here's the process I was gonna follow: Wire wheel>ospho>pressure wash>POR15x2 coats

You can buy a little starter kit for about $30 and see how far it goes and then do the math. The more clean you can get any rusty surface before using any product, the better your results. I did a whole frame using a wire brush in an angle grinder and Rustoleum rusty metal primer and was happy with the results.

There's a fella up north somewhere on the 4th gen forum, that outlined and took pictures of the entire process. The fella was super meticulous, and the average folk could probably skip a lot of his processes, but that thread may be of help in determining quantity of resources.

Because you are painting it on with a brush a gallon goes a long way. Like any type of paint, this stuff adheres best on a rough surface.
