How much room behind rear panels?

I am thinking about taking my Orion 5-channel out of the Civic and putting it in the 4runner. I know it won't fit under the front or rear seats, so I was thinking about putting it behind the rear panel on the driver side. Is their rom back there? The passenger side has the storage pocket and I think eventually I want to put a sub over there.

Anyone taken that panel off? Whats back there, enough room for a 5-channel amp?

that alpine amp is fairly large and it fit. good luck!

Yeah my amp is about the size of that Alpine, but the connections are on the ends so I couldn't mount it that way. I was thinking about the other side of the car, but that was my basic idea, so it looks like it's possible.

i would image that the other side would look the same. just remember that your jack and tools are mounted on that side, so you'd have to think about relocating it.

just remember that you need some air circulating around that bad boy to keep it cool. you dont want it shutting off intermittenly because of heat. ive always thought of toying with the idea of using computer motherboard fans mounted somehow. im sure you could use a relay and power it with the 12v and the remote lead so that it would turn on when the amp does.

Yeah, I have seen people do that before. When he mounted amps in a display behind plexiglass, he used two computer case fans, one pulling air in from one side and the other pushing air out the other side.
