How much tire ?

I've got a 1999 with a 3" OME full spring lift (medium coils front and rear), 1" toytec body and no running board (if they are a rubbing concern).

Aftermarket wheels with 3" of offset and 7" wheel width, 265/70/17s right now and there looks to be plenty of clearance.

Anyone running a 275/75 or a 255/80 without rubbing issues?

Sorry, I couldn't help it. Do a tiny bit of searching and you'll have your answer. 285/70's will probably work great.

Anything that measures 33.5 or less will work, but don't go any wider than a 285. You'll still probably have to trim the fender skirts and pound the pinch weld behind it, but that's what we all do to not rub. I still rub just a tiny bit at full lock and full stuff but I might hear it once or twice in a day of wheelin so it's not a concern.

I was thinking I could keep the width down by going with a 255/80/17, I've seen at least one person running these, anyone else have any experience with this narrower tire?

I have the equivalent tall skinnies in a 16" flavor and I love them (255/85/16 - 33.5x10"). They clear a little better than 285s and they do great off road and dig through deep snow and down to the road very well too. I think I will be staying with this size from here on out.

Any trimming to get them to fit ?

Yeah, but no more than usual. With all 33s or bigger you will need to trim the plastic fender skirt and beat the pinch weld behind it (on the firewall) with a hammer to not rub bad off road.
