How my GOBI Stealth will pay for itself...

Very odd turn of events - to me anyway.

I’ve gained a minimum of 2.0 MPG since installing my GOBI. I haven’t changed driving habits, destinations, etc. and all tanks have been in cold and warm (read mild) weather equally.

At this rate, my ROI shows my rack pays for itself between 18-24 months - almost as long as it takes to get one built and shipped [emoji23]. Looks like I just freed up more money for mods!

Interested as to how you accomplished this. Did you have a more robust rack originally? Does the new parasitic drag reduce the form (induced) drag?

Yea.. this is mystifying to me as well. After installing mine, I lost another 1 to 1.5 MPG. I removed the Gobi sticker from the fairing.... maybe that is whats causing it

I went from the factory roof rack and cross bars to the GOBI Stealth. Not sure about the drag, but I can only think it has something to do with the wind fairing.

I removed my sticker as well. I have a no rise, without any lights in it (for now), maybe that makes a difference.

I have your exact same configuration for my Gobi rack and came from stock with crossbars and have lost about 1.5 mpg

Was just about to say the same... did you install the rack in early April when summer-mix gas is probably starting to make a come back?

winter gas is actually significant--- that and the increased use of 4x4 makes calculating MPG in the wintertime meaningless/painful.

I've only recently gone from 15~16 mpg back up to 19mpg. And nothing has changed but the seasons. I buy my top tier fuel at the same place every time.

Yeah, it might depend on where you live and gas laws, time of year mixture changes, etc.
I can confirm that after the gobi stealth install, w/rise, ladder and light bar resulted in -1.5mpg on average.
The weight of the thing itself should show in general use MPG. The listed weight specs on the Gobi site say 70lbs.

Maybe a little lighter with a sunroof option grate and the cross bars removed.

I have noticed the same thing. Also the temperature affects my mileage. When it dips down below 30 degrees, my mileage drops as well!

Installed the rack early February. Several months and tanks went by before I just accepted the fact I’m getting better mileage.

Same, if not more time in 4x4 since early Feb. which is when I installed it.
