how often do you 2003-2004 guys replace the turn signal bulbs?

i had my passenger side go out at 85K miles which is great.

but i had my driver side bulb replaced all but 4 months ago to fry a day after i replaced the passenger bulb.

i keep my headlights on auto mode.

I bought my '03 T4R used (second owner), and in the service history it indicates "lamp" maintenance at 53,000 kms - but I am not sure if this was for the front turn signal bulbs or not as it was done by the first owner.

I did replace the front driver's side turn signal bulb (and it operates as the daytime running light here in Canada) at 118,000 kms.

yea on auto it operates as daytime as well. i like it a lot. clean amber look which i prefer over dimmed headlights.
 
So far, I have all original bulbs yet on my 05 4Runner with 64k. My dad just had his passenger head light blow out on his 06 4Runner with 80k. He also needed the HVAC bulbs and the bulb behind the center information display replaced a few months ago. My mom already went through 4 turn signal bulbs on her 07 GX470 with 37k (first one blew at 15k).
 
At 95K km (1 year ago) one of them was burnt. Replaced pair (to make sure that look is the same). No probs so far.
 
Replaced my first one on my '05 (which doubles as running light) on the drivers side in May (56K miles). It blew again in October, then that one blew a couple of days later and the socket wouldn't light a new bulb. I replaced the socket and all has been well since.
 
At just over 5 years (but under 30K miles) I still have all the original bulbs on my 4Runner. I do however run with my lights on all the time so that others on the road actually "see" me in daylight. Where I live you would be shocked at how many people cannot "see" a vehicle the size of a 4Runner. Then again, "distracted drivers" have been known to be somewhat "blind".
 
I have replaced the fogs just because I wanted the yellow color...but as of today I still have the same turn signal light bulbs since I got the runner
 
I just bought mine with 50k, needed a new front parking bulb, and both stop/brake bulbs had the stop filament out. And it needed bigger headlight bulbs, but the old ones still worked.
 
The most important thing you can do to conserve your lamps, is to change the blinker fluid at regular intervals!:wink2:
 
all the time. I have had to replace mine at least 4 times in the last two years. Determined they keep getting wet and shorting out. Used some dialectic grease back in September on the last set, so hopefully these will last.

Noob here...

I'm in this same boat. I just bought an '03 Limited (32k miles). When I test drove it at the dealership, the driver-side turn signal was out. I asked him to change it when I bought it. When I drove it off the lot it still wasn't working, so I had him change it again. This is all in a matter of less than 72 hours.

I really hope this is just a socket (by socket do you guys mean the whole signal assembly?) because that dealership isn't going to like me if they have to look for a short.
 
I had to replace the socket on my passenger-side signal when I bought my 04 used w/ 54k miles. I first replaced the bulb, it lasted almost a day, second time all of about 2 hours before blowing... looked inside the socket and one of the pins was all chewed up looking and bent. Almost as if the original bulb hadn't been seated properly. The socket was something like $6, and fixed the problem of it eating bulbs. Also, remember not to touch the bulb glass on your new one if possible when replacing, the oils from your fingers reduce its life. Or just wear (clean) gloves when holding it.
