How often do you air down?

it would be an interesting study to compare your kidneys to someone of a similar age and number of miles offroad who aired down their entire life.

I air down every time without fail. For FSR running, I'll run 15 front and 12 rear. Anything technical I'll run 8-9 all around. Snow wheeling I ran 6 for most of the year this year.

Never had a puncture, never had a flat. 35/12.5/17's (I've had Procomp extremes, KM2's, and currently Toyo MT's - all the same air down practices, all on the same rims) 17x8 pro comp steelies.

I live in Southern Nv, and I air down every time im out, which is just about every other weekend. I find that my tires last much longer since im not chunking the tread off on rocks. Rather, my tires are conforming better and gettign better forward bite all day long. Plus its much easier on the chassis parts too. I have a perfect example. My buddy never airs down. Th two of us are running the same tire and just about the same size. My tires are 10months older and look better than his. Its all preference. I like my tires to do their job. Now saying all that, Im running around 25psi for the same trails ol ronny boy there is running. I can run fast and hard safely with this pressure, or if it gets a little more rocky like one of rons pics,Im aired down enough that the tire is pretty compliant and grips well.
To each their own. All I can say is that I like airing down, and my friend doesnt. I usually make it up most hills slower and smoother with less wheel spin, while he has more tire spin and and his tires are more chewed up. Just my .02

been wheeling since the early 90s with my cj5. started airing down in the late 90s, first with radial swampers (to about 10 psi most times), then switched to bias swampers. first bias set were LTBs, and i consistently ran them at 5 psi for about 8 years till they wore out. for really rocky/boulder trails, i ran them at 3 psi. never used beadlocks, never lost a bead, never had a leak. now have a set of "regular" bias swampers, and i run them the same as the LTBs. 5 psi most trails, 3 psi for "heavy" rocks/boulders.

see plenty of mud & water in new england, too.

attached pic is from a few years ago, with the LTBs, running Old Florid* Road in mass. pretty typical terrain here. washed out roads leaving boulders, ledge, rocks instead of a road surface. if you look closely, you can see the rear tire enfolding a fairly pointed rock. wetness is pretty typical, too, makes ledge/rocks slick. running pressures of 15+ psi would be uncomfortable here. i know that on that run, i ran 3 psi.

I never air up

They stay at 5-6 psi and I only have to air one up because it's got a slow leak. 39.5" Iroks at 5 psi makes wheeling so so so nice! People are amazing on how decent my 4Runner rides on leaf springs. The tires soak up most of it.

Most recently, I've been playing with the air pressures and my current favorite pressure for my style of fastish running has me at 23lbs. It gives me great forward bite, and still has enough side wall strength to handle the corners without blowing a bead. With this new pressure, I see the outer lugs doing more work helping with bite. So far, I have been 100% impressed with the new BFG KO2. BFG hit a home run.
