Not OEM Filter? Nothing against NAPA... Just based on what I know about you, I wouldn't think you would do a NAPA filter
Is the NAPA synthetic cheaper than OEM?
Look at an analysis of the NAPA filter. It is a quality filter which I believe is made by WIX. I would not hesitate to use one. They are actually more expensive than an OEM(~$12 vs the ~$4 I pay for my OEM's).
5k on regular oil is quite fine. I ran regular Pennzoil(the one which according to hillbilly myths is supposed to sludge your engine to the point of failure) with OEM filters for my first 90k on 5k intervals. I had no sludge issues when I finally switched to Pennzoil Platinum. Mind you, this 5VZ is driven quite "spiritedly", or probably a bit past that.
