How rare are V8 4th Gens without sunroof?

I'm looking to get a 4th Gen and I want a V8. Never owned a V8, figure I might as well do it now while gas is somewhat affordable

However, I'm 6'4" and I'm worried about head clearance, so I'd like to get one without a sunroof. Is it going to be really hard to find a V8 without a sunroof?

I'd love a car without a sunroof. I never use it and I am sure the motors/hardware adds quite a bit of weight!

But of all the 4Runners I saw before buying mine, ALL had a sunroof.

Your only chance at finding one without a sunroof is going to be an SR5. The only limiteds and sports without sunroofs are going to be ones that were special ordered from the factory and there aren't many.

I don't think the V8s are that rare, but I also think you'll probably have to get an SR5 to get one without the sunroof.

I believe this guy had to special order a sport edition V8 w/o sunroof, and it took him several months to get it:

And I'd venture to guess most Limiteds will have a sunroof as well.

My 03 V8 SR5 I bought new has no sunroof. My freinds 07 Limited V8 has a sunroof.

The others are right in that it will be very tough to find one without a sunroof, and one with a v8 and no sunroof even tougher.

You should try to find one though because the taller types like yourself will find that extra headroom essential. Its tighter than I'd like for me with the sunroof (that I never use) and I'm only 5'11". Toyota didn't have you in mind when designing these.

In comparison, in my wifes Pilot I have acres of headroom WITH a sunroof.

Oh well.

My 05 V8 SR5 has no sunroof; but does have leather and audio control on the steering wheel…. You never know what you can find… :lookout:

Thanks for making me feel special on a Friday afternoon! I have a V8 SportEd with no sunroof.

I am 6'4'' too, when I was looking to buy mine I sat in a few with sunroofs and fit without much of a problem. Remember that you can crank the seat down to sit lower and give yourself more headroom.

Cool, I must have gotten lucky then. My '04 is a Sport Edition with V8 4WD and is without sunroof! (never liked it anyways...)

You may be onto something My 04 SR5 has a V8 and a 3rd row. I do not have a sun roof. I am 6'2" so I probably wouldn't have bought it if it had a sun roof. I have to take off my hat when driving my wife's SUV with moon roof.

Man. On the other side, when I was shopping for mine; it had to have a sunroof. Never owned one before and I love it.

Does it really steal that much head room? I am a pretty tall guy and I am fine. I do take the driver seat and crank it all the way down. Felt too tall before that.

When I was shopping last month every V8 I looked at had a sunroof. I finally decided I'd get a V6 model and I have to say I'm very happy with my V6. Plenty of power compared to the 3.4 in my '99.

It is all dependent on region. 4Runners equipped with third row seats do not come with a sunroof. All Limited's (without 3rd row) in my region are shipped with sunroofs. If you are looking for a V8, the truck will probably be equipped well and hence have a sunroof.

I was under the impression that 3rd row seating is rather rare, so not sure I get what you're saying.
