How should I spend my $1000?

:banana:I have a grand saved up and am thinking about going with the 3" ome lift and tread wright tires? Any other suggestions? And I already have a turbo thrush muffler, throttle body spacer, airbox mod, and also new spark plugs.

Treadwright tires are retread tires. Some swear by them while most just frown upon them. Chances are, the ones that frown upon don't know a whole lot about them other than the fact that they are retreads. I have personal friends (2) that run a treadwright tire with no problems or issues and for multiple miles too.. as well as seen more positive reviews than negative in the past few years now. People just don't know a whole lot about them or their history.

other than you dont know what kinda tire your gonna get, like what the sidewalls look like, you are buying used tires with a recap tread on them... and by the time you pay for shipping and mounting and balancing you may as well of just bought some new tires that have a warranty, -sure tread wright has a warranty but you have to ship the tire back to them and wait and wait for them either approve or deny and then ship you a new tire(you pay for that shipping too) where as you could buy new ones from say america tire and if you ever have a problem then they will fix it no cost to you... and no waiting on shipping or anything like that.
 
I have been reading about the treadwrights a lot recently and contemplating getting them as well this summer. I've looked at all of the reviews from the different vehicle forums and like what I hear. I was just curious why the kid didn't approve of them. I want to test the 265/75 wardens out. Yeah all the negativity I have read is from people who have never used them. I understand where the kid is coming back, but most of the time people just send a picture and treadwright will just send out a new tire.

your right i have never run them, to me though idk i just am a little skeptical running recap tires, i have seen what recaps can do on the hwy with semi tires(that have to go through a lot tougher inspection) and have worked for a tire shop before. i like the ability to go have the tire fixed if there is an issue or have a new one put on that day(most tire shops wont touch a recap FYI) and who knows who the original tire owner was and how he drove or what he did whit the tires, i know i would never want to have my tires that i run on my trucks retreaded and reused and i know i took care of my tires, but i also know i USED my tires as well. and like i said by the time you have paid for shipping and mount and balance you may as well have bought a set from a retailer with a full manufactures warranty thats just my .02 check out some reviews on youtube

Pricing wise I'm going to have to disagree with you. It would cost me about 500 dollars shipped for 4 treadwright guard dogs (285/75/16) whereas it would cost me upwards of 850 for legitimate Goodyear m/t's. I can wait a few weeks to save $350.
 
hey if you wanta run tread wrights im not gonna shoot them down, like i said ive never run them and dont know anyone who has, so i have no grounds to officially knock them, if you or any of you do run them let us know how they do, you might just convince me its the way to go...
 
I would get rid of the Thrush muffler and TB spacer and put it back to stock, that should be a good way of spending the 1K$.

Maybe do timing belt, water pump, new brakes/rotors all around, and a full fluid flush/fill as well.

You gotta make sure she's taking care of if you want her to take care of you.
 
I was all about treadwrights until I found a land cruiser owner that had one blow and the truck flipped at highway speeds. That was one of two incidents I found but that was two too many. I can't risk my family over a few hundred bux.

I had a friend who ran treadwrights for a couple years. His only complaint was how heavy they were; made quite a performance difference on his 22re.
