How to ADD wire delete?

Hey I recently did the manual hub and non-ADD tube conversion on my front axle. Afterwards I was left with a single 2-wire plug that used to go into the ADD tube (as shown in photos) which is located on the left side. It is my understanding that since this wire is unplugged, the 4WD light on the dash will no longer work. So if I want the 4WD dash light to function properly, than I would need to cut the plastic plug off and connect the 2 wires (twist/crimp/solder). Is that the correct process? There used to be a website that detailed it pretty well (4x4wire.com), but the website doesn't look like it exists anymore. So can anyone help me out? Thanks.

A shorting plug exists that plugs in there that was uses on manual hub Tacomas... though no idea if you can actually GET it.

I would suggest using the small sub-harness that goes between that plug and the ADD switch as the spot to do the short - that way, you or a future owner can easily re-enable the ADD switch for some reason.

I agree with your idea. Another possible option is to contact a place like Aeromotive or Connector Experts and get that other side of that plug. They will likely be able to sell you a plug with some wires for 75 bucks that you can use, and avoid any hacking of the factory wiring.

You are correct on connecting the 2 wires together. I did mine many years ago and remembered there being a short pigtail I cut off and soldered them together leaving the plug on the main harness intact.

You could always just pull the pins out of the connector and tape them together if you don't want to cut the wires.
