When I pulled up to show her (my wife of many years) the new TRDORP @ the dealership, she said “it doesn’t look anything like your other 4Runner, how long will it take for you to make it look like Midnight?”
Answer: 6 years worth of modding, about 6 months or less.
She said ”Great, what’s first?”

This is my general approach. Depends on the mod.

I think checks & balances are good. As with all things, too much of anything is never good and having to think twice about the wifes approval has saved me from turning our truck into an overlanding machine. Luckily, the mods have generated a lot of positive feedback from neighbors and the public in general. She is always excited to tell me about how someone told her the truck looked cool or gave a her "thumbs up" in traffic.
