how to crank down torsion bars?

i've got an 86 ifs runner, and i know which bolts need to be turned but is there any special technique to it? does one have to lower them both down at the same rate to avoid screwing up my frame, or is it just as easy as turning a couple bolts?

On a 20 yr old truck you may need to soak the bolts in penetrating oil for a few days first. Pick some reference points and mearure frame to ground a few placwes on each side.
Loosen the locking bolts and turn the adjusting bolts an equal amount. Then fine tune one side to level it if needed.
You only want to raise/lower the truck by 1-1.5" max.

yeah i'm not too worried about penetrating oil cuz i just raised it about an inch and a half a month or so ago...hate the way it rides now so i'm gonna lower it back down and throw a decent lift in

Smart move, you don't get something for nothing.

there isnt really any special technique to it. i raised my bars when i put on my lift. when your done, just make sure to measure from your tire to edge of your wheel well/ fender. make sure those two lengths are equal and youre good to go.

Do you mean from the tire, straight up to the edge of the fender?
I only plan on 1" lift. Does anything else need to be adjusted/modified/changed? i.e. shock length, brake lines, etc?

you can do from the tire to the fender or the lip of the wheel to the fender. doesn't really matter as long as you have a net change of 1". Nothing else should need adjustment, but beware that the ride is rougher, but not really that bad. Also if you don't have manual or automatic locking hubs, cranking your torsion bar will put your cv's at a more extreme angle that will wear them out faster.
