How to get Armor All Off the Dash & start over??

I recently used Armor All...what would be my best cleaner to do the dash right?

I used to use armor all, and Formula 1001 (i think its called) all the time. Ever since I bought my 4runner, i havent used it. It just looks so much cleaner without any shine, plus it just keeps that fresh from the dealer type look.

Here on my recommendations, I am not a professional detailer however I detail on the side and consider myself fairly knowledgeable in detailing, so take it for what its worth

The safest way for *dusty* dashboards would be just to use a damp microfiber towel w/ water and simply wipe down your dash. For lightly soiled dashes I use Woolite detergent diluted 6:1. 6 parts water to 1 part detergent. Woolite is very gentle.

303 Aerospace protectant has very good UV protection although *I* find it a bit to shiny on dashes as well as some of my customers. It all depends on the look your after. Wooloite can also be used on all your vinyl/plastic surfaces throughout your vehicle. On heavily soiled vinyl and plastic surfaces I use a diluted all purpose cleaner.

If you find 303 to be too shiny you can always go back and buff it with a MF towel to lesson the shine.

For windows/glass I recommend Stoners Invisible glass or Eagle Ones 20/20. They are both good consumer line products.

Looks like woolite can be used to clean the dash. You could also dilute Simple Green. Both are safe.

The armor will also evaporate over time. Did you use the 'Low Shine'?

I like vinylex and 303. But I have not used either on my 4runner yet.

I bought simple green the other day and it works well for all the interior. It leaves a weird smell in your car for about a day though, but if you left your windows down, I'm sure it would go away a lot quikcer.

Hey Del- Just be careful where you use Simple Green and the strength you use it.

SG is a very strong cleaner/degreaser. I personally would be hesitant to use it on the dash. However diluted at least 10:1 or perhaps 20:1 should be ok for vinyl and plastic surfaces. You will still get great results with it diluted. Just my .02

I used 2 parts Simple Green and 1 part water on my dash in my Eclipse for over 6 years with an occasional wipe down with Meguire's Natural Shine and dash still looked new.
I did the same on my '97 Runner and am continuing it on my '99 and so far it looks great and the Simple Green clean seems to not be a magnet for dust as much as some other products that just seem to "coat" your dash over time.

Nice! Glad it has been working out for you. Simple Green is a great product but can be harsh on some materials. Sometimes it to late once you find that certain material, if you know what I mean. Thats why its always good to "proceed with caution"

2:1 is still very strong for dash cleaning, unless it is extremely soiled. Try dedicating one spray bottle diluted 10:1 and see if you like the results. Sure won't hurt nothing plus you can save more SG for tougher jobs

You're right. I use full strength for engine degreasing, but keep a 10:1 mixture in the kitchen for cleanup of greasy and oily stuff. It's surprising to hear that 2:1 hasn't hurt the dashboard.

I took the advice and just mixed up a bottle of 10:1 for the interior since I don't want to take a chance and the diluted mix worked just the same. Thanks
