So I figured many of you would find this to be helpful... cheating, but cool :awais:
Anyway...
Theres a few different ways of getting something free out of Sirius / XM....
If you call up Sirius or XM and compare them to one or the other, you could eventually talk them into giving you a free unit as long as you pay for the subscription. Multiple customers have given me this story.
Direct from my XM rep... We asked him a question about that and he XM will almost give you a unit and 6 months free if you play your cards right.
Here's the coolest trick and I only know this works with Sirius... Basically you have to buy your unit and sign up for a subscription... say a month later, cancel. Turn your unit off completely, take it out of your car and let it sit for a few days. After 3-4 days, reinstall it. It'll work, and you won't be getting billed. Trick is to turn it off BEFORE you cancel your service. Basically Sirius sends out a signal for 48 hours that would essentially close the connection between your unit and the service. If your unit is off, it can't get hit by the signal... ;-) And yes, I've seen this work.
Maybe it was a fluke? But no lie, I know someone who did this and his unit has been working with Sirius for a few weeks now after he canceled.
