How to mount CB under stereo?

Introduction thread here.

I've seen the awesome link to how to get to the radio and I've seen where folks have them mounted. My question is how? How do you secure your CB and headunit in the double DINN spot? That's ideally where I want to put my radio and secure the handset where the 4wd switch is (mine's 2wd) but don't want to crack open my dash before knowing how to secure it!

Thanks!

i would just fab something up. When i worked for best buy geek squad(auto) we had this thin metal strapping that was bendable with holes in it. Get something like that and work a bracket out of it to stradle the cb and screw into the innerds of the dash where it will secure it but the screws will not be seen. Your probably going to have to try a few different things but everthing should fit snuggly for the most part.

I finished the install yesterday and actually used the stock harness that was around the stock headunit. My Alpine unit lined up perfectly with a pair of holes in the top half and I used a drill press to drill holes to line the CB up with the harness and flush with the radio.

There's about 3/8th of an inch on either side where theres no paneling / molding but it looks good. I'll post pictures here in a bit... as soon as I get my camera back....

plumber's strapping

did this on my 99 3rd gen. the strap stuff broncosi is describing I bought at hardware store plumbing section. It is to hold pipe in place. I used it to go around my head unit and bent it to fit the mounting holes on each side of my Midland CB-then secured to CB with the thumb screws provided.

I'll do my best to get some photos up on my Facebook page-give me a few days...
