How to remove bumper center trim piece?

Hey guys. My front bumper has some paint peeling from the center trim piece so I'm planning on removing it to either have it painted, or paint it myself (most likely).

It's the same vehicle as in my sig. A 2003 Limited 4th gen 4runner. I've found the screws / bolts that hold it on from the bottom, and it seems to be loose now - from the bottom. But I just can't seem to get the top part to come out. I don't want to break anything obviously. Anyone else have this piece off before?

Excuse the mess of dead bugs. I haven't washed it yet after we drove to Dallas last weekend...

I think its called the front valance panel.

Here's the procedure in removing the front bumper. I think you can just go to step 12, it says the valance panel is held by 5 nuts?

Thanks a lot Borgzman. That was some good info you posted there. I wish I was able to find those pdfs when I was researching it. I subscribed to techinfo.toyota.com previously and downloaded the 4Runner info, which as far as I can tell, didn't include any of that info.

I should be able to slide under it later today if it stops raining to see if I can get it removed.
