anybody know how to remove the sunglass holder located on the overhead console? i need to take this out so i can do some cutting on the piece for a small mod.

i tried pulling down (hard!), tried using index and tumb pulling down (like in the tundra models), and try to ply with a screw driver.. dont wanna keep pulling and break it, or then loosing it up too much and ending up with a rattle like in the 4th gens.. any ideas? tips? anybody done it before?

also anybody with a part no.? i called the dealership and they said it was too new for parts to be on production, also when it comes out that ill need to buy the whole console, that the sunglass holder alone will not be sold separately. i just need the sunglass holder flip down door!!:AK47: calling other dealerships tomorrow.

thanks in advance for all the help.

They are and then the entire console comes out with a tug and 1 wire harness disconnect. Don't know about the door itself, good luck.

See my sig...there are manuals that take you through the removal process...

i looked at the manual on your signature, lots of helpful information which i will be savings for future reference. But after a few hours of reading on them, i couldnt find any instructions about the sunglass holder... there was plenty of info on the interior instruments and components but nothing on that holder.

has anyone taking out the sunglass holder door off?? im sure it isnt so complicated, just a matter of finding the right technique....

leo, try taking off the whole unit and tackle it from the inside?

i read about a guy having trouble taking the whole thing out when looking for power around the map lights, but im gonna give it a shot myself if i cant get it out...

im sure theres gotta be a way of taking it out without taking the whole thing out,,ive done it on other cars just gotta find the right technique for it..

The OH console is the easiest thing to take out in the world.. 2 screws, pull, unclip harness. Then you can take the whole assembly to a workbench and figure it out right in front of you instead of working over your head. How much simpler can it get than that?? Just my opinion!

im only trying to take the sunglass holder not the whole console? do you know about a way to do that without taking out the whole thing?

PLease forgive me for being blunt, but have you actually read what I have posted in this thread trying to help you out????

yeah i have and thank you for the input. you said the screws were for the console and you didnt know about the door itself, then take out the whole thing instead... i know what youre saying about how easy it is to take the whole thing out and work out on it on a bench, i only need to mess with the sunglass holder tho.... i mean i would think that door will just come out by pushing it down or something... trying to save the time of taking out the whole thing...that lil door looks so easy man, i guess it isnt..haha

If you open the sun-glass holder, you will see 2 screws in the top. I think you need to remove the whole thing to remove the sun-glass holder.
