How to shut off factory alarm without fob? 2002

I bought my 2002 used, no alarm fob. I somehow activated the alarm and can't turn it off. This has happened before, but it has been a long time. I don't remember how to turn it off. I did a search and got some hits, but they all seem to leave out info; assuming the reader knows as much as the poster.

Can anyone give very clear instructions?

Also, can the alarm be permanently disabled or can I get a new fob?

Finally got back to it. Did some more searching and saw a thread instructing someone to remove the black box for the alarm. I did that. It was under the dash, held in place with a zip tie, which leads me to believe it could be aftermarket. It doesn't say Toyota anywhere on it. There is a little white label that says "Main Module Part Number 00012-KU100. The car won't start now. It makes a rapid clicking sound. Is this from a dead battery (I'm trying to jump start it), or is this a problem related to removing the alarm box?

I would guess it's the starter kill circuit that's been activated or a dead battery. Removing the alarm usually involves more than just removing the brain but also re-bridging wires that were spliced into the alarm circuit too.

This is correct, I have an aftermarket alarm in mine too. Instead of pulling mine out, I turned the sensitivity to the lowest possible setting and that got rid of all the problems.

For future reference, locking the driver's door twice then unlocking it twice with the key resets Chamberlain alarms.

That's the factory security module. Your truck will refuse to start without one installed as it was intended to have it. It can be wired around, buuuut.... not a great idea.

The fob you need has an FCC ID of HYQ1512Y for the 99-02 4Runner. They are readily available on eBay.

It did start again. I am so thankful. I will look into getting a new fob.

I know this is super old, but if you're still here, HOW did you get it to start again? I'm having a similar issue.
