How to wash a black 4runner each week?

Hello all,

I've just had my 4Runner detailed and I plan on keeping it looking great for as long as possible.

I've got the Klasse twins (All-In-One & Sealant Glaze) that I plan on applying every few months. What I need to know is what to use when I wash my truck each week.

I figure it has to be fairly mild as to not strip the finish unless I plan on reapplying the Klasse AIO & SG each week.

So what car wash is best for weekly use?
I was thinking something like Meguiars NXT Car Wash.

And what should I use afterwards to maintain the shine and protection from the Klasse twins?

Okay I'll try to answer my own question. :bash:

Once a week...

Step 1:
Rinse 4Runner of loose dirt with water.

Step 2:
Wash 4Runner with Meguiar's Gold Class Car Wash.

Step 3:
Use Meguiar's Quik Detailer to finish.


Once every 3 to 6 months the routine changes to this...

Step 1:
Rinse 4runner of loose dirt with water.

Step 2:
Wash 4Runner with Meguiar's Gold Class Car Wash.

Step 3:
Apply Klasse All In One to freshly washed & dried 4Runner.

Step 4:
Apply Klasse Sealant Glaze.

Step 5:
Use Meguair's Quik Detailer to highlight shine & finish.


I hope that these steps will keep my 4Runner looking sharp for a long time to come.

Please let me know If I've missed anything or if I've got this all wrong.

Dont forget to clay your truck. You dont have to do this very often.
1) wash your truck with dawn to get the old wax off.
2) Clay
3)Wash with NXT using 2 bucket method with sheepskin mitt. Wash in 1 direction. No wax-on or circular motion.
4) Dry with high quality MF towels. Dont buy the cheap stuff. Dry in 1 direction.
5) AIO with porter cable
6) wait 24-36 hours
7) Dont drive the truck anywhere
8) AIO again with porter cable
9) Top of with P21S wax or other high quality wax.
10) Then 303 Protectant for the dash, I think for leather its ok. Do every 3 weeks or so. Dont use it on the outside.
11) Black Magic wheel cleaner, FX tire shine.

I think washing with NXT every week and drying with mf towel. When the car is dry during the week, use CA car duster or OXO duster.

Mini swifter for dust and Invisible glass for the windows.

Check autopia.org forums. It changed the way I clean my black runner.

I've been doing exactly what Ken said, since I bought mine in Jan. The Klass twins & carnuba topper is the way to go, every 6 weeks I renew the carnuba, I read somewhere on Autotopia , it kinda evaporates. Don't scrub with the wash mit, just "float" it over the finish. Use waffle microfiber towles to blot off the water, no rubbing ever! The Klass & Ps21 has an amazing deep WET look.
