How urgent is an alignment with ~2" lift???

I have about 2" of lift for the front of my rig. (TRD Pro FJ kit w/ 1.25" spacer). I know an alignment is necessary and will be done right after but how urgent is it? I live a ways out of town and it might take a day or two once installed. If I drive 100, 200, or 300 miles after 2" lift before being able to get it aligned am I going to toast my new tires?

I presume I'll be ok and the wear won't be anything obviously noticeable but want to be sure before I do it. I know in my bagged truck which is always at a different ride height it isn't an issue.

It really depends on how the alignment ended up after the install. The change in ride height isn't nearly as big a problem as the fact that you had to loosen up everything to do the install. Even with carefully making match marks and lining them up after install it's not going to be quite right until you properly align it. The question is just how "not quite right" is it?

You need it asap... Your camber will be off and your tire will wear all wrong. Make sure you find a shop that does real alignments (they are rare). You need caster camber and toe adjusted. 90% just do toe and are too lazy to spend the time to do it right. You want max + caster.. as much as they can get.

I doubt 100 miles would hurt it. 500 might be bad. No way to know for sure.

I would get an alignment soon after any suspension mod... even if you get new tires. I wouldn't say it's urgent but it would definitely help the handling of the truck

I did the FJ suspension plus spacer. Picked up right about 2” in the front. You can see my “before” alignment in the picture below. I drove about 600 miles like that before getting it aligned. No noticeable abnormal wear on my tires and it drove well enough.

I already had new tires to go on, I probably wouldn’t have done this if not, but seems there was no harm done.
