How would you price this 4runner?

37k miles with services records...i am the original owner
New(less than 1k miles) Michelin Latitude Tour Tires
Car has been always garaged and waxed 2-3 times a year
Interior and exterior are both very clean, no rips, tears or burns
3 very small dings


I was suprised to see dealers listing then for $23k+. What do you think is a fair price for a private party sale?

Use both Edmunds and KBB to appraise it. An average of the two is usually realistic (not the better of the two). Also, don't go by the top condition number ("Exceptional" or whatever); everybody feels their car fits that category, but hardly anybody actually pays top dollar for it. As the seller you're proud of your car, but the buyer just wants the best price. The second level (Good) is certainly reasonable to expect.

Dealers always start high to have room to negotiate down. They can usually come down at least $2000 and still make money. Use those same car sites above to find out what trade-in/wholesale price is - that's roughly equivalent to invoice for a used car.

Think Im going to clean it up real good and put it out for $21,999 and see if I get any nibbles.
