I don't know, it might be the angle of the picture... but the 1st and 2nd gens look a hair wider than the 3rd gen (look at the headlight to headlight distance as a rough reference); which looks like the skinniest of all the generations.

It looks like it actually shrank a bit in the 3rd gen and then grew wider/bigger in later generations.

As an owner of a like new 2015 TP, I still think the 3G are the best looking...will always be my favorite 4R

There is a 3G in my town that is like new. I am being told it has less than 50K miles on it.

I think I would trade him if I had the opportunity.

What a pretty sight!! I've always found driving a yota to be a good conversation starter to meet more coworkers. The angle of the camera has a lot to do with the 3rd gen appearing the smallest. My neighbor has a 3rd gen, and parked next to my 1st gen, their bodies seem to be about the same width in person

Yeah, it's great having a v8; but how does it feel driving a mom car. That's my only grudge over 4th and 5th gens. They show their off road ancestry but it's not the same as a 3rd 2nd or 1st gen

It appears that Toyota subscribes to " bigger is better"
I don't disagree for the most part but I think they have reached critical mass, any larger and you might as well buy a yacht.
