How'd you install your wideband?

To all of you third gen owners, how did you install your wideband?

The bung in my header is made for this kind of 02 sensor.



And the wideband sensor is a screw in style like this.

You want to weld a bung in, in front of the the factory sensor. Kinda on the side of the pipe, not right on the bottom. Don't remove the factory sensor unless your ripping out your ecu and going stand alone.

That's right where this bung already is. I guess I should have made myself more clear in my first post. Basically i'm wondering if the afr sensors only come in the thread in style or do they come in the bolt-on style as well?

Monitors your air to fuel ratio, important in boosted applications, in this case, supercharged.

only threaded style. it's not hard to do though. drill a hole into the exhaust with a uni-bit until you find the right size that the bung drops into, screw in the 02 sensor and tack weld the bung in. remove the sensor and finish the weld.

Any exhaust shop will weld a bung in for cheap if you're not a welder.

The uego comes with a bung, so don't let them charge you for one

Read the instructions on the Uego in regards to bung placement. Show the shop, or follow what it says if you're doing it.

Yeah I know it's not hard but I'd just rather utilize the bung that's there (on the headers I put in) instead of blocking that off and welding in a new bung.

I'm actually a welder by trade so that's no issue. But I appreciate the advice.

why are you blocking off a bung? I know you can run a signal in place of the OE sensor using your wideband controller... but you are aware that you need to keep the factory 02 installed as well, right?

One final thought... Toyota does make Air/fuel ratio sensors with that fitting. AFR sensors are just widebands. It may be possible to wire that to your wideband controller.

I just installed the same one last week. AEM should have supplied you with a bung to weld into the exhaust.

I was only blocking it off because it was an extra bung.

You basically answered my question, I also thought a wideband 02 sensor would work if wired up to the wideband guage.

Do you know the part number that these Tacos use as their wideband 02 sensor?

Bumping this up from the grave.

Working on installing an innovate wideband right now and have a few questions who have the same setup.

Question 1: I have a Lotek gauge pod and holy shit that gauge has some thick gauge wiring coming out of it. Were any of you able to run it in the a pillar and squeeze all the wires down the side? Any tips? I have it in but it's really tight and doesn't look that nice. But it'll do for now.

Question 2: how'd you weld your bungs in? I have a welder but there doesn't seem a way to get a drill up there to make the hole. Did you guys unbolt your cat portion and drill and weld with it off the truck? Any ways to do it with everything still mounted on the truck? My bolts look seized and rusted to shit. So taking it off is not my first choice at the moment.

I didn't use a pillar mount so I can't comment on that.

But I did install mine with the exhaust still in place using a right angle drill and a Unibit without an issue. Not much else I could think of would fit high enough to drill the correct position.

ill have to look into that..

So did you end up just installing at the 3 or 9 o clock position? or higher?

After drilling the hole, did you have to worry about where the metal shavings went? Or just place the bung and weld?

Our ECU's won't give us lambda, so no unfortunately. I am just gonna go with a innovate lc-2
