How's this price quote sound?

06 Sport V8, 2WD, Galactic Grey

Leather Seats
Daytime Running Lights
Rear Spoiler
Carpet Mats
Double Decker Cargo
Leather Steering Wheel

MSRP $34,076
invoice $31,128

they offered price over the phone: $32,061

Most of the car websites like edmunds and msn autos don't include leather as an option, so its hard to find accurate pricing comparisons.

I was offered $32192 for the following

06 Sport V8 4x4 Galactic Gray

Daytime Running Lights
JBL system with 6CD in dash changer
Floor Mats
Spoiler
Sun Roof
Homelink (garage door opener)

MSRP: $36551
Invoice: $32392

(I think leather steering wheel and audio controls are standard on all Sport Editions)

This is the price in Southern California.

Not sure how much of a premium leather can add, but as you can see, the price I was quoted is less than invoice. You may want to try and haggle a little bit more with your dealer. (Although leather seats is rare in that configuration)

That price is pretty bad. See the other current thread about pricing.

There's a rebate available for a few more days, plus most any brand of car is selling pretty close to invoice anyway.

The factory doesn't offer leather seats on a Sport - that's why you can't find it on Edmunds. It must be some sort of aftermarket add-on the dealer put in. Look for a zipper on the edge!

Hi toto,

The price I quoted was before $1000 rebate, so after rebate it is $31192, which isn't too bad and well below invoice. Plus the guy who started the thread you linked to was getting a V6 not a V8. My price was pretty good (obviously not great but not bad).

I'm basically getting it over $4000 below MSRP

I didn't think the price was great, just curious how far off it may be or where to start. I'm in New Orleans, and there aren't many sport V8s around here, so I need search the neighboring places in the gulf states region.

I asked if it was the factory style leather and not a zippered add-on, and he insisted it was. I found the pricer on KBB.com, and it shows this option,

Seat Trim, Leather Surfaced (PIO)

You also may want to consider buying at nearby out-of-state dealerships (for example where v8's are more common). This is what I did since I wanted the side & curtain airbags in my Sport edition and Southern CAlifornia doesn't have this option readily available (i ended up buying mine in Las Vegas).

supwaz - Your deal was a lot better than busbeepbeep's. I was referring to busbeepbeep's, since he started the thread. He was only looking at $2000 off. Going rate is much closer to invoice as you pointed out.

busbeepbeep - PIO means "Port Installed Option". PIO's are installed at the port after the truck comes off the boat and before they print the window sticker to send it to the dealer. Floor mats, wheel locks, and alarms are the most common PIO's. It's not factory, but it's a genuine Toyota accessory and would be covered under the bumper-to-bumper warranty. That's interesting... I've never seen leather seats as a PIO. If they're good quality and installed well, I wouldn't hesitate to buy them.

toto, thanks for pointing that out. I actually ended up realizing who you were referring to after I posted my message.

so I went to the dealership today. I drove a Sport V6, and an SR5 V8 (they had no sport v8). The car in question is actually in Dallas, so I'd have to pay that price plus a $300 truck fee to get it to new orleans. I found the exact truck on the dallas toyota website, and i configured the car on KBB, and the MSRP matches at $34,076, but KBB's invoice price was $30,050.

I saw the dealer invoice, and it was full of fees like regional advertising, national advertising, 2% holdback, 1% finance something, so his invoice said $31,128. They sounded pretty firm on that, but I figure since he doesnt have the truck, I can call any local toyota and see about finding an out of state 4runner. and just see who offers the best price.
